The movie did not touch my heart, nor my boyfriend's. The movie did not succeed in absorbing me into the plot. I did not feel connected to the characters. I even felt it turning it off at the beginning of the movie but I insisted to finish the movie as my friend told me it is a good one, but I really wish I did.

The Notebook is a beautiful film about love and how it can truly last a lifetime.

It starts off with an old man in nursing home who goes to read to one of the other female patients, he tells the story of two young lovers, Allie, a beautiful city girl, from family money, and Noah, from the country. They have one summer together where they are inseparable and fall madly in love. However by the end of the summer Allie has to move away to college and Noah is left broken-hearted, writing to her everyday for a year without one reply.

So Noah decides to restore the house where they had first been together, as his labour of love.
Years pass by and Allie, having been in college and concentrating on her studies, meets a young soldier and they become engaged.
However, as fate would have it when Allie is trying on wedding dresses surrounded by her friends and her mother, they read of her wedding announcement in the paper and on the other side of the paper is an article and a picture about Noah and his house.

This is the first time Allie has glimpsed his face in years, with all her feelings again coming to the surface. What will Allie do: stay with her finance or follow her heart? And why didn't she reply to any of Noah's letters so many years earlier? More importantly, how does this all relate to the old people at the nursing home.

Well I won't tell you as that would ruin it, but it's a beautiful film which will never fail to restore your faith in love.
