“Ubuntu 15.10”

Written on: 19/03/2016 by craggan67 (5 reviews written)

I have just added Ubuntu 15.10 to my laptop. I have installed it so that both Windows 10 and Ubuntu can be run from my laptop. It can be installed so that when you switch on your computer, you decide which operating system you wish to run. I would only recommend installing it if you know what you are doing with a computer however the benefit of running it I find to be huge. Ubuntu is a more simple and straight forward operating system and because of this it is much quicker. There is no 10… Read Full Review

If you are new to linux, this is the best way to go about it. It has many ways in which you can give it a go, from either a live CD which doesnt touch the hard drive or mess up any existing installs, the actual install to hard drive that will work alongside windows, and finally a windows installer that makes it even easier.

Ubuntu has a nice sleek looking desktop with plenty of features particularly the wow effects just like vista, it also features many new useful items such as categorized… Read Full Review

“Its fast, reliable, and with the latest release, 8.04,...”

Written on: 14/08/2008 by Crazysnowdog (2 reviews written)

Its fast, reliable, and with the latest release, 8.04, its stable. Firefox comes preinstalled, as do open office, and transmission, a bittorrent client. I used Windows for years, always wondering after an alternative. I have to say, this, without a doubt, if you are an experienced computer user, is the best OS for you. Also no VIRUSES!

I fully recommend this OS to anyone experienced with computers, its free, fast, and highly customisable. For me, I've never thought about going back to… Read Full Review

Ubuntu is the top Linux distribution for a reason. No need for anti-virus software! Very stable, source code freely available, very easy to install and set up. Wobbly windows and window previews (great graphical effects). Low memory usage. Reorder taskbar. Support for Skype, real player and flash… Read Full Review

“I've used Windows for years and spent a fortune - I...”

Written on: 04/01/2007 by edward2910 (23 reviews written)

I've used Windows for years and spent a fortune - I have bought 3 copies of windows since Win 95 and bought new PCs with Win pre-installed on another 3 occasions. Hence I've effectively paid for 6 copies over the years at a cost, in real terms, of about £100 a go.
I've also been very frustrated over that time by the speed and reliability of the operating systems purchased, though Win XP has been reasonably reliable. However, even this OS often freezes on shut downs and requires virus protection… Read Full Review

I found this review helpful because...It corresponds with my experiences with Ubuntu exactly. I'm so happy with Ubuntu that I'm using it right now to write this review. I can still boot vista but haven't in months...
