“Lynx Predator golf set”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 26/01/2016

Used these clubs about 12 times. Could not get decent hits from the driver( which has loose bits of something in the shaft). The irons are decent, but scratch easily. The bag is fraying where the clubs go in and one zipper is already ripping away from the bag! My very old Tom Watson rams were better quality and were made 45 years ago!

I purchased a full set of Predator ll's last fall after getting back to the game after a long absence. (I'm also a Sailor) The Predators replaced my Ryder Cup Irons which are lighter and with smaller surface area. Same with my woods and the 460 cc driver. I couldn't be happier..I suppose unless I went out a paid more money for a "hyped-up" brand, Summary..great clubs for the value or visa versa.

The irons are definitely better than your beginner set. I had one of those beginner sets you buy for like 300 dollars, you get the driver putter irons and bags, the whole 9 yards. The Lynx predator is an upgrade for sure however I still recommend people to spend about a hundred bucks more to get a better set. Now once I get better at golf I might buy another better set of irons, now thats just money wasted on my Lynx irons. I regret not buying a better set to begin with.

written by vain on 03/10/2007

I bought these clubs around 2 to 3 years ago to take to my villa in spain. I already had some Titelist DCI irons that I was pleased with and didn't fancy carting them to and for every time i went, they were chosen because they looked good felt good and seemed quite similar in feel to the DCI's at around half the price. The more i played the irons the better they felt, I was hitting straighter and with more control with the predator II's and my handicap literally halved from 18 to single figures within months. At first i thought it was just me improving until i played a few rounds with the DCI's back home and couldn't seem to find my feet at all. Maybe the weather I thought, but after a few more bad rounds over the next couple of weeks I decided to try my luck with the predators and had them brought back home.

Unbelievable difference straight away, I played with more confidence, and my feel was back. The only problem was my mates (golf snobs) made fun of my "bargain basement irons".

I still get the ribbing from the Callaway clan but I still love the clubs. What next? Polo shirts from Ethel Austins?

I have since sold the Titelist's and can't understand how cheap these irons are on ebay.com from the states, I have seen them as cheap as $49 p

When it comes to irons,it's like a fingerprint. One set of irons may not feel the same for another person, and also may not be suitable. Each person has a different swing. If you have a good smooth swing, the predator II's work just fine. I have had the Lynx Predator II irons for two years and have gone from shooting low 50s for a good score, to shooting low 40's in a year. I am an intermediate and do work on my game a lot. What people fail to understand is that If you don't take the time to work hard a your fairway game, your 300 yard drive doesn't do you any good. These irons can pin point a 150 yard shot, and I have found that on average a 7-iron hits about 140 yards. I have hit a Taylormade rac set and they do feel better, but these do just fine.

“The Lynx Predator II Irons was quite possibly the...”

written by TrailerTrash on 09/02/2004

The Lynx Predator II Irons was quite possibly the worst investment in my golf game I could have made. I read the reviews just like everyone else, and when it came down to it the good prevailed. Recently in Golfsmith I found these clubs retailing for $350. On Ebay Golfsmith was selling them for $140. Score one for value. I got the clubs home and it felt great putting them in my bag as my previous set was compiled of odds and ends from friends or garage sales. I was shooting in the low 90's with these. Eager to get the ball away I was headed to the range. So much for the famed "game improvement" I was looking for in a new set. My somewhat straight to power fade had turned into a ghastly left hook. At first I thought it was me, but the guy next to me heard me complaining and offered a couple of strokes with his. my shot was back on. Three times I've been to the range with these and three times they have offered up the same garbage results. They have absolutly no sweet spot. There is so much vibration in the shaft it will make your hand hurt. I even went and took a lesson to see if there was any possible way I could hit them better and my Pro said he'd never seen anything like it upon the demonstration of two different brands of clubs. The guy in the clubmaking shop said that they were severely off-balance and recommended I buy something else and not neccessarily from him. I am utterly embarassed to take these to the game on Sunday, so much so that the old odd lot is back in business. Wow did I ever get suckered. As for the set in Golfsmith. I demoed them and found only a slight right to left movement consistent with one of my better scoring days. Should've saved a couple hundred more and got something worth buying like Cobra ssi's or Rac Ht's, or os's. Until then, watch out for me on that par 3 with the battlescar from hell Pwedge slick as snot grip from 115. "You're actually going to shoot with that?" Yes I am, and I'm gonna make birdie too. You won't hear that out of anyone playing a set of lynx predator II's.

Chumowski's Response to TrailerTrash's Review

I found this review not helpful because...quite honestley this guy doesn't know what he's talking about. you can't rate clubs if you are not experienced in the craft and moving from a mixed bag to a set is a no brainer...

I recently bought these Lynx Predator II clubs, being my second set. After being told by the guy in the shop that these were good intermediate clubs. I was to find out otherwise !

All the clubs i found to have loose grips. But most importantly, after a few rounds of golf i found the 3 iron to have a funny noise upon striking the ball. I found this to be a loose head which during the 13th hole came flying off heading towards the green !

I am very disapointed with these clubs, and now have reverted back to using my older cheaper clubs.
