Well i had mine for about a week and broke the forks (broke the inside adjusters so it was always stuck of soft). i do go a lil crazy with my bikes tho. So i upgraded my forks and got rock shox tora 318 solo air.
the next thing that went rong was the crank and discs, i easyly spent some money on hayes hfx 9 and shimano hone crankset.
and i must admit the gt chucker i hav now is imence never lets me down and takes some tuff drops.
overall the gt chucker is great value for money, but if u do rather large jumps be ready to spend some cash to convert it into a beast.

Good frame and shifter, but poor front brakes and disc brakes. Overall, i think the GT Chucker is worth the money.

When I got my Chucker it had averagely decent components and the bike felt very strong and ran very well with little maintenence when needed.
I would definetely buy one again!
Now my chucker has;
Halo ProII Hubs with Halo Combat rims and anodised red Hope QR's, Shimano XO rear cassette
Maxxis Minion Dh R ST 2.5 Tires
Hope Bearing sets for crank with Shimano Deore XT HollowTech crankset with anodised red fixings converted to single speed on front and Truvativ Chain Device and BashGaurd
Hope Bearings sets for Headset, Truvativ Hussefelt short and fat headset, Carbon Fibre Riser Handlebars
LizardSkins Grips and chain gaurd
Hope Mono Brake's
Shimano XTR derailleur and quickfire shifter, anodised red hanger bolt
ROCKSHOX SDRace motion control, remote lock off 100mm Travel
Blue Dice Valve Caps (XD)

I bought a secondhand GT Chucker 2009 XS1 in Autumn 2009. First impressions are the white colour scheme is pretty good. The ride also is pretty good. The Marzocchi DJ3 forks are worthy and efficient. So far the only flies in the ointment are the rear SRAM X4 mech which is a bit pants (does the job, but no more) which I am replacing with an X9 mech and trigger...and the rear hydraulic brake could lock a bit better (I'll probably replace that too). Buy a Chucker cheap, bling it up with some decent parts and it will make a very nice bike...
Overall a nice bike which needs a bit more custom finishing to suit the individual rider, but a bike that gives you enough reward to make it worthwhile.

GT Chucker - strong frame, lightweight, bang for your buck, awesome look, heavy duty
GRIP SHIFTS people, seriously you need to upgrade them to rapidfires.
single wall rims arent favourable offroad, ur gunna need a set of double walls.
great bike for messin around with and getting from A to B. it'll hold up for quite a bit of jumping but eventually it will start to fault, probably the front fork and crank bearing.

The GT Chucker is an awesome mountain bike. Everything about it looks great. The brakes are really good. The gears are even better, so is the suspension. Over all this bike looks so cool and there is nothing bad about it.

I got my GT Chucker for jumping because has strong frame light in the air and a great bike to pul around in the air. After about a year of riding dirt jumping I moved to downhilling and it great easy and light to push up the hills and geat for speed I have only had to change the forks because of a bad crash and brakeing the crown but other wise my forks wold still be good. So yer a great beginner and pro-bike great bike and also woth the money.
