Do not use this company for a mortgage trust me it cost you a fortune. One bill off the adviser then o what a supprise another one off the company office. Nearly £1500 for them to get me a mortgage which would of cost me nothing if I went to my bank. Please think about what your doing and spending before you use Countrywide.

I really wish I could have wrote a good review about my experience with Countrywide as when I first started searching for mortgage advice my Countrywide advisor seemed like a breath of fresh air after previous difficulty I had with advisors. I am a First time buyer who has just completed on my mortgage and as obviously mortgages are a new thing to me I had no idea what I was doing. I was approached by Countyrywide through Dixons who told me that they could do everything including the legal side so I wouldn't have to do a thing. I was lucky in that my Brother had recently been through the house buying process and he compared their fees for the legal bit to his Solicitors and they were almost double!! I then did a Google search and read some of these reviews so I decided to find my own Solicitor for this but use the advisor to find me the best mortgage deal. His charge was £250 to make the application and then another £250 upon completion/exchange of contracts. Honestly I feel like I have threw £500 down the drain for something I could have quite easily done myself without him phoning me during the process trying to get me to purchase additional cover which was also overpriced and excessive. He then gave me some stupid advice about buying my buildings insurance before I had even got a completion date so in effect I would be paying for something which I would have to change and also may not even go through. I spoke to my solicitor about this who also agreed that his advice was wrong. He was pushy and just kept phoning me to try and speed things up with the solicitors because he obviously wanted his commission from the mortgage deal. The rate he got me was not even 'Exclusive' as my sister has only gone and got exactly the same mortgage deal on her own to the bank directly without paying £500 in mortgage fees!! First time buyers beware - go independent and do not use Countrywide. Its a scary and daunting process getting a mortgage but do some online research and take it step by step. You will save a lot of money!

They recommend a company for legel fees . The quote for legal fees was more than double what any if my friends had paid to buy a house . I called the company and they had no good reason for their quote being so high . Then I checked a letter country wide mortgages had sent me . Hidden on the back page in the middle of a load of writing it stated that country wide mortgages got a referral fee of £685 from the legal company . Apart from this country wide charge £400 to arrange mortgage when other just get paid off the lender . Im glad I woke up and realised what a rip off they are . As a first time house buyer they also go me

Please do not be tempted to use Countrywide Mortgage Services. Do not take for granted the amount that they say the lenders will be prepared to lend you...the figures available after signing the paperwork will be far lesser than discussed previously! Exceptionally poor customer service, be prepared to constantly chase CMS. Please take your time reading positive reviews of independent mortgage companies and choose wisely. Or if you have the time contact the mortgage companies directly. Good luck!

I would like to thank countrywide for dealing with our mortgage application. The senior mortgage advisor at caterahm branch helps us with each stage of the process. He was always a call or email away. Highly recommended. I have suggested them to my friends.

Hello Reader I am not writing to gain anything but want to save someone else going through the same pain we did, Country wide mortgage advisers are so bad that I lost my house for a stupid mortgage application that took more than a month. I have provided everything they have asked, i.e bank statements, from last three years..yes, for three years, ID's and lots of rubbish only to know that the agent is stupid enough to apply mortgage with my incorrect name and after 3 credit checks and 3 applications to the same bank with incorrect name, which damaged by credit report and they failed to even get a AIP. Totally useless agents. call center is a joke and other agents don't seem to know or help anything, the agents are always on holidays, study leave or busy no calls ..one day the agnet said he is on leave again for few weeks and asked me to contact HO for them to provide help with another agent !! i wish they were honest than lie to me constantly.. I would have moved to another agent. finally I managed to pullout the application my self by calling the bank directly and applied through another independent agent and got the approval in 5 working days... wish i read review about this rubbish and useless company and saved my self a whole lot of grief,.. one word please avoid Countrywide mortgages....they are useless and waste

I had a great experience with my Countrywide advisor. He was based in Bridgfords Manchester and him and his estate agency team gave an A* service for me and my family. We got a much better mortgage than we hoped for, and he reassured us and kept us informed regularly throughout the legal process. If anyone lives in Manchester I would recommend Yonatan Levy at Bridgfords Bolton for your mortgage needs!

For anyone thinking of using countrywide for anything don't. They are absolute criminals. They will rip you off and supply you with a shambolic service. Stay well clear.

Used these total idiots to get a small mortgage with a very incompetent French guy who lost all my details TWICE.End result no mortgage and all that form filling and waiting half a year for nothing.STAY AWAY

we have had an offer accepted to buy a property, bridgfords have hounded us to go with their mortgage advisor and now refuse to accept our own mortgage in principle or write to our solicitors to confirm offer accepted unless we provide them with a certificate to their satisfaction. They advise we go with their mortgage advisor. We have used our current broker for 13 years and are confident of our position. It's a disgrace and we suspect this is in order manipulate us or the next person into gazumping. Totally unethical and breach of fair trading.

Thank you for sharing this - we have put in an offer for a property and they are being so vague about whether our asking price offer has been accepted... Now they are suggesting we meet their advisor and if we go with them, it could strengthen our "position with the vendor". It's diabolical. I fear we will lose this property and the vendor will have no idea why. I fear we are going to be messed about big time.
Written on: 20/04/2016
Seriously stay clear, the mortgage advisor took so long getting back to me I missed the chance to put in an offer. He then lied and told me the vendor had decided to rent out the property! I can see the sold sign!!! Lairs stringing people along, very unprofessional and vague advice also.
written by PreciousMiles463 on 31/01/2015
Took our fee and then neglected to keep communication flowing between the vendor and ourselves. Suggested a product which would have needed to be extended 5 or 6 times to meet the completion date. Caused us a large amount of extra stress and anxiety!

Very disappointed with Countrywide Mortgage Services. The estate agent (Bridgfords) put unreasonable pressure on me to use the service of this in-house mortgage broker, saying that I couldn't even view a property unless I had finance in place, but as I really was keen to see the property, I agreed. This pressure was PROBLEM #1. I was then charged a fee, which was relatively high compared to other brokers - this was PROBLEM #2. The broker did a minimal amount of work (ask me a few questions, look at a computer screen, and choose the mortgage deal at the top of the list) and did not really explain anything to me. Eventually I applied for the mortgage he recommended, and a mortgage offer came through. It took a while, but I wasn't in any rush, so that was OK. However, when checking the offer carefully, I found that I did not meet one of the essential criteria. The terms and conditions were only supplied to me post-offer, so I couldn't have picked this up myself any sooner. When I raised this, the broker consulted with a friend in the bank concerned and then after a few days advised me not to mention the matter to my solicitor, so no-one would know about the problem and the mortgage would go through. This was PROBLEM #3 - a lack of ethics, which could have had disastrous consequences had I gone along with the broker's advice. So in summary, unfair pressure to use the broker in the first place, an expensive service for what is actually provided, and an ethical approach that is totally unacceptable. The only positive thing for me was that I was eventually able to secure some compensation for being mis-advised. I'd suggest you avoided this company and choose your own broker or just approach lenders directly.

I endorse every review here and they are absolutely rubbish. I am calling the solicitors and bank myself and wondering why have I paid CW. These guys are absolutely rubbish!!

Absolute nightmare of an experience getting our mortgage with these guys! Believe it or not the whole process took 10 months!! The only reason we actually got anywhere in the end was because I started chasing up the bank/solicitor/sellers solicitor myself because our advisor didn't bother..we were hardly ever updated, and it would take the advisor weeks to get back to us, and then when he did we were constantly given incorrect information! Don't waste your time or money, go direct to the bank and do it yourself xx

exactly same happened to myself and I had to do the chasing they don't do the work and inform you it takes that long you have to chase yourself ive wasted money and paid for hassle im first time buyer I got nothing out of it I would give documents which needed faxing to the bank just to be faxed it took them nearly 4 weeks to send a fax I kept phoning to see if it had been sent no reply back would phone 8 times in a day and no one gets back to you absolute nightmare waste of time you just pay for hassle don't do it with countrywide

We have the same experience with Bridgfords and countrywide. Now left in a tricky situation with a mortgage application on hold, overly expensive rate, and unsuitable insurance. Worried that if we go elsewhere we will lose the house.
