The Shimano aero re 5000 baitrunner I just got my hands on one of these and am quite impressed with it the double handle in my opinion balances the reel up nicely. The reel winds nice and smoothly and I may well order another one as a spare as I believe they are out now as a limited edition I see that two reviewers are not that struck with the reel but I for one am a Shimano fan and think its a good product. If you would like to see images and specs for the reel have a look on here www.fishingtacklemadness.co.uk this is were I got mine from, I also got a spare spool with the reel which will come in handy for me.

this model is awful
the drag goes from non existant to over-tight in one click, no scope to adjust
the drag actually failed after just 2 months use, went to loosen it off when a big fish was running and the knob turned but nothing happened and had to switch to backwind mode pronto
i expected more from a Shimano but this model seems to be an utter croc of doodoo
shame on shimano for producing this, we have come to expect better from you

Simply brilliant for the money and having used shimano bairunners of all sizes these little gems live up to the name, great line lay nice and smooth and will take some stick from big fish! Overall an unbeatable reel for the money and in my opinion there's no point in spending more money on the upgrade as there's little difference apart from fancy spools and paint.

this reel is very good ignore what that lyer has wrote, all shimano reels are good, this is the cheapest at £54.99 each. At my local club water all the locals ive spoke to agree that shimanos reels are brilliant one of which has had his for almost 15 years with no faults what so ever. i have these reels and ive caught a 21 lb common and a 27 lb pike whilst using them and they worked a treat (ive had them for around 9 months now). if you are a more experienced angler you could always upgrade to the xte range, although they work fine for me and ive been fishing near on 7 years now.

Shimano Baitrunner 5000RE Aero Reel is just terrible and i will be replacing as soon as possible. No feel, no balance and i had all kinds of problems with it.
