they always have excuse to charge you extra money. Please keep yourself away from them. I have reported one of the customer manager (called James? can't really remember..) for his awful attitude and then unreasonable £250 charges. “Be wary when changing your address!!”

I had been with Barclays insurance for roughly 3 years, I moved house and gave them a call to change my address details, after confirming my address they informed me that they could not insure my car in that area (6 minutes from my previous address) as it was high risk and they cancelled my insurance on the spot leaving me uninsured. Bought a new car mid-policy. They charged double the premium compared to other companies but I would lose all my money covering the remaining 6 months so had no option but to stay. THEN the policy automatically renewed - never experienced that before for car insurance. “Absolute nightmare,”

Non fault accident, Barclays my insurer were not interested in my vehicle in anyway shape or form but more in my head, neck and back movement. I was not injured at all but this wasn't enough for this company. I have had to call a further 5 company's that in one way or another are relayed to my Barclays policy and no one is interested. “Scrabbling for your money”

“Premium Hike”

I have had my car insurance with Barclays for several years. I have in that time made no claims nor have there been any changes to my policy. In 2011 there was a 30% hike in the premium which I kind of accepted. However in 2012, after again no changes my premium has increased from £700 to £1100 with absolutely no justification. “Good price - terrible claim management”

Bought Barclays insurance as I thought I was buying from a reputable Brand. Turns out that it is all fully subcontracted - you do not get what you think you are buying. Since I made the claim I have had to speak to more than 10 different companies. To name a few Minster Law, BUD rescue and recovery, M&S repairs, Drive assist, Premier Claims service, Nationwide etc etc, there is no coordiation at all between these different companies and no one to let you know what is going on. “We can't insure your new car!!!!”

I've just moved house and about to change my car so I contacted Barclays to inform them of my intent. The address change went OK but when I told them I was changing from a 2litre Golf GTi to a 1.3 diesel Astra they said they couldn't insure me for the Astra!!!!!! I'm going to have to cancel my policy with no chance of a refund for the remaining 6 months. Barclays Insurance, you are a JOKE. If anybody wants my advice, go with someone like NFU. I went with Barclays Insurance because I have banked with Barclays for years so it seemed a good idea at the time. They recently sent me an additional cost for 2010/11 which was an error. I tried to speak to Customer Service. They have an 0844 number that is almost impossible to get through on and when you get through they keep you hanging on for ages (I believe 0844 earns them a commission). I chose Barclay's because it was the best quote we could get for comprehensive.
Already in the second month we had trouble, as BArclay double billed us.
Then on the third month, we checked our statements, and Barclay had more than double what we paid, using the excuse that we had not disclosed information regarding previous claim, which we HAD!

I recently purchased a new car and therefore needed to get a new insurance quote from Barclays to transfer over. I expected it to be more expensive but I was told there was a £25 charge for the transfer!! and that's what you get for staying with them! I told them I would look elsewhere and I was then told that there would be a cancellation charge of £66!!!! Have been charged 2 payments on my card as a deposit quote said £27.21 and £11.26 x 11 payments.

Total quote on monthly is £151.07 but now with the con paying total of £178.99

LOOKED AT MY STATEMENT ON THE BANK today

2 payments £27.21 and £27.92 on the same day ???????? NOT WHAT THEY QUOTED THEY ARE A CON !!!

Similar experience to others on this site, unhelpful customer services not prepared to use common sense or an understanding for genuine insurer error. As I insured with Barclays a few days before my previous policy expired I've been told my no claims is not valid as it was used on 2 policies (even though I can prove I had sold car from previous policy), to correct this they are prepared to cancel current policy for £80 and set up new policy for £226 (3rd party f&th) when the policy I took out… Read Full Review

In Oct 2010 I noticed the company had billed my credit card once again for the same amount.
telephone conversation with barclays revealed that they had doubled billed other customers as well (who knows how many?). They said they would re-imburse me but still waiting

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

Just had a terrible experience with this company. In late August I switched from Direct Line to Barclays and insured a 2007 Renault Megane. Last week I sold that car and bought a 2010 Megane (the new shape) and a special edition version called 'Generation'. When I called to amend the policy I was told they could not insure it as it was 'not on our system'. So I was left without insurance until I could find a new policy. Purchased car insurance through Barclays 6 weeks ago, but when changed car, quoted significantly higher premium for the remainder of the year, than a quote from Ford for the full year - £340, compared with £302 respectively. When asked about cancellation costs, I was informed that the net cost to me would be £110 - for 6 weeks cover!!!

Barclays have been improving their products with their price match. They were about 200 pounds more than my Tesco car insurance renewal quote of £371, so they not only met it, but they gave me back another £50 for price match. 2 months later I phoned in to add my wife, who is a newbie with a Pass Plus, and I got another £124.00 back!! Unfortunately, they wouldn't let me add no claims protection after I started my policy, which in a way could be fair.
