Mediterranean Palace Playa De Las Americas

Stayed at Mediterranean Palace Playa Las Americas for one week, booked with a request for either sea view or pool view, however we were placed street facing away from both where unfortunately road works were taking place. Lots of noise.

The hotel itself is huge, the reception/entertainment areas were very nice as was the pool. The room we stayed in was very tired and needed some updating to earn the 5*rating. Very old fashioned television which worked intermittently. Floor tiles cracked. The bathroom was quite smelly especially when other guests used their toilet. The toilet itself was sitting over the soil pipe but not sealed. On one occasion nearly fell off when it rocked under me. The bath looked as though it had been patched up over the years.

The food was adequate but certainly nothing special, food choices were limited with very little difference to the menu during the weeks stay. The hot food was sometimes barely warm.

This Hotel may well have been 5* when it first opened but is in need of major updating to justify the prices they charge.

Staff were very nice and helpful, ample supply of towels and the cleaners did a good job when they came.

Love Tenerife, but this was a disappointing experience.

Food was no better than anywhere else, quite boring and bland, nothing inspiring. Rooms were 3/4 star grading. We complained and staff are fully aware, it is planned that the refurbishment will take place in 2009, which is no good if you are there in between now and then.

Spent one week at the Mediterranean Palace in Playa De Las Americas, Tenerife, and it is a fabulous hotel. It has a great location, with Playa De Las Americas and Los Cristianos within easy reach.

We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis, and we had no complaints with the food. The Med is part of a 5 star resort with 4 other 5 star hotels, of which you can use the facilities. The hotel could probably do with a bit of sprucing up, but it didn't bother us at all.

We booked our flights with Thomas Cook, and the hotel and transfers were booked with Relaxabroad.com, and we saved quite a bit of money off the brochure price. We have paid more in the past to stay at some 3* hotels.

We would definitely recommend this hotel.
