I can't believe some of the reviews I have just read here. I have visited this restaurant two or three or more times a week during Cowes Week every year and have thoroughly enjoyed each and every occasion. The service has been discreet, friendly, efficient and timely on every occasion and the food has been exceptional. For me Cowes Week would not be the same without China China - it has become a wonderful tradition. Thank you so much.

Great location, huge potential, poor dull service, very average food, made from low quality ingrediants at hugely inflated prices. Very disappointing. Only 60 metres from my front door and yet I hardly ever go there. I would much rather go to where the food tastes better, fresher and cheaper.

China China service was slow, food served on cold plates and had to be sent back to kitchen for re heating as accompanying rice was not ready! Restaurant seemed to be unable to cope with a party of 11. Quite pricey for what were small portions. Unable to recommend to friends and colleagues. Staff quite friendly but did not seem to understand what good service means. Sorry

I feel that China China is located in a nice building, and I have had some tasty food there, but when we went I felt it was overpriced, special deals didn't seem to be that good to me and I felt like there was a total lack of respect for us. The place seemed inflexibile in terms of our customer satisfaction.
It seems to me they don't listen to constructive criticism from customer feedback that I've given them.
Having been made to feel uncomfortable, we left and went to one of the many restaurants in Cowes where my family and I were made to feel very welcome by happy and friendly staff.
In short, I felt like China China loved to take my money but did not care about our experience and we will never go there again. It grieves to say this as we are local and want local businesses to succeed.

The China China restaurant look very nice and clean, staff very friendly. I would recommend this place to my friends if they asked me if I know of a good place to eat around Cowes.

Overall it was a great meal. Cost £25 per head but we didn't have very much to drink.
Came away feeling nicely full. All the courses were excellent.
We travelled to Cowes from the other side of the island and felt it was well worth the trip.
Best Chinese food we've found on the island.

We had booked a table for 4 at 8pm on Saturday, but this wasn't ready when we arrived. The person who had greeted us at the door suggested we have a drink in the bar, but it took 10 minutes before anyone came to serve us there (and it was the same chap). He then showed another group to a table which, mysteriously, was ready... He did ask a waitress to bring us some prawn crackers, but these hadn't appeared by the time we finished our drinks (he had since left to deliver a take away)... after being completely ignored for another 5 minutes or so we left and found another restaurant - there's plenty in cowes after all!

The meal was OK but didn't find that the service as good as we had hoped

The service we received at China China in Cowes is the usual thing in the UK - complete lack of proper staff training.

I love going to China China in Cowes. It's really well put together and modern. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and often in good spirits. The plates are always hot, and the food delicious.

China China, in Cowes, is a new restaurant having opened in early 2006. It serves good quality and well priced Chinese food and has a lively bright atmosphere. Three of us dined here on a Saturday night and although the starters were quickly served and on warmed plates, the main course took an hour and was served on very cold plates, which did ruin what could have been very high quality food. The delay was not just us, as we saw a couple of other tables walk out due to the wait. It may have been a one off 'bad night', so we will try this restaurant again in a couple of weeks.
Overall, we would say 'give it a go'. Cowes desperately needs decent quality restaurants, so fingers crossed the teething problems are resolved and Cowes can boast a high quality Chinese restaurant.
