Powerful Biopic Story Ali Retells The Life Of The
Powerful Biopic story Ali retells the life of the 'Greatest Boxer of all time' Muhammed Ali. This Michael Mann film relieves the life of the boxer through the years from when he was growing up during the segregation years against blacks to his legendary bout against George Foreman in Zaire. The opening scene of the film sees Ali preparing for his historic battle against champion Sonny Liston and it also reminisces on the hard life of black people during the 50's. The fight scenes and the surroundings of where the film is set have been crafted well by the director to create that whole effect of the time in which the events took place.
It retells the story of Ali brilliantly. Will Smith takes the role of Muhammed Ali through some make up on his cheeks and a truly amazing performance - he convinces the audience well enough that he is Muhammed Ali. Jamie Foxx and Jon Voight also produce sleek performances as well. Foxx takes the role of Bundini Brown, a Jewish friend of Ali and Voight, the sharptalking journalist Howard Cosell. Mylkelti Williamson famous for Shrimp lover Bubba from Oscar winner Forrest Gump acts very well as fight promoter Don King.
There is also a large amount of humour in this film, something that came naturally to the boxer. The jokes in the film are tiredless, every time you hear it, it never seems to prevent you from giggling with laughter.
It also uncovers historical events such as the assasinations of leaders Malcolm X & Martin Luthur King and is able to re-enact them well. The final fight scene with Muhammed Ali and George Foreman has been crafted spectacularly well.
Ali is undoubtedly a great film and is certainly one not to be missed out on, it contains a mixture of everything: drama, comedy and history and it depcits the life of the boxer very well. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.
Ali is undoubtedly a great film.
