Visited in October this year. Previously stayed for 5 nights last October and was so pleased we decided to stay for a full week this year.
As per some previous comments the hotel is slightly dated in terms of design, but the rooms have been recently re-decorated. They are functional rather than luxurious, but are clean and fresh. One thing I would just mention is the lack of English TV channels in the room. There's hundreds of channels by only two English channels such as BBC Prime which only transmits a few hours a day and the same thing is repeated over and over again. In these days of satellite TV it would have been nice to relax in bed and watch something you can understand- but it's only a minor gripe.
The hotels location is superb, being nearer to the more "upmarket" end of town- towards the recently constructed marina area and overlooking the wonderful sandy, picturesque beach.
We like to go very late in the season because prices are naturally a lot cheaper, but you also don't get the crowds or the kids, and this hotel is no exception. It's like having the hotel to yourself - including the pool which is wonderful (but very deep, so be careful!) I think we paid approx £300 bed and breakfast for the week and that is really good value for money. The buffet breakfast is fantastic.
No evening entertainment sadly, but there's always somewhere to go in town or the marina. The main town area is quite tatty in terms of establishments and tends to cater for the "football supporter" tastes. Plenty of bars with widescreen tv's boradcasting your favourite British tv programmes if you're in to that. Food is quite basic, but caters for the tastes of the clientele if I'm honest.
The Marina is more upmarket and is very pleasant - if a bit too quiet in the evening. Be careful of prices in these restaurants as it can get quite dear.
A great location, very reasonably priced accomodation, good weather, no crowds and no kids - we'll be going back next year!!

We stayed in the Mirochoro apartments 3 years ago and had an awful experience there. When we passed the Algarve Casino Hotel we said we would stay there next time, which we did and loved it. We will definitely be going back.
