With 2013 Centenary planning well on its way, the beautiful and well-appointed Alister MacKenzie parkland course at Hazel Grove Golf Club in Cheshire, is characterised by several natural water hazards. Add to these the planting of a further 6500 trees to supplement the existing ones and you can understand why thoughtful course management is required by golfers of all levels.

This 'review' made me chuckle! It is so clearly written by someone at the club and could even be a direct lift from their own marketing blurb.
<br/>
<br/>The original course was indeed designed by Alister MacKenzie but the bulk of that was compulsorily purchased 30 years ago for the aborted A6 bypass. The new course is OK but nothing exceptional.
<br/>
<br/>For a true MacKenzie course and a real test of a golfers ability take the short drive to the nearby and magnificent Reddish Vale.
