“Special occasions only”

★★★☆☆

written by Blondedee on 22/01/2016

I've had three cal gel manicures and one infill. At first it was terrific - lasted ages. But every manicure has lasted less and less. The most recent one started lifting after a week. My normally very strong nails are incredibly soft and are all breaking. Have an appointment tomorrow and will have it removed and only use for special occasions. I would agree with the other reviewers who said it damaged their nails

The girls planned a night out to remember, so i thought about trying this out and looking good for the night. It was really good value for money and i will be definatly buying some more. Calgel lasted around 5 weeks on my nails without any problems. I would recomend using these.

written by on 10/04/2012

I am Jenifer Angela. I am just 18. I was frustrated about what to do ..How to approach into the fashion world. From the childhood I dream to be a successful model in UK…in the fashion world. But I do not know how I will start. One day my friend Alisha told me about Future Faces UK Competition. I believe every person has something God gifted power, just he or she needs to explore that. May be this competition will be the stair of my dream. I just went to join there. Joining Future Faces UK Competition was one of the best things I've ever done for my modeling career. I didn’t have a portfolio so Future Faces helped me to create one, when I arrived at the venue I got my makeup and hair done then produced some fantastic pictures which were then summit into the competition! I’ve never felt so special.” futurefacesuk(dot)com make my dream true. . This is me now it the turn of yours.

“Waste of money!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 29/02/2012

A total waste of money, had my nails done on a Wednesday by Saturday i had to go back because one of, them had chipped. Then on the Monday had to go back again another had chipped. After only ten days three nails had lifted,so i had to peel the polish off, because they obviously felt uncomfortable. Would i use this Calgel system again ?, you can bet your life i would not! I would have better spent my money having a nice manicure and buying a real good polish.

Are you not qualified? You suhold know the answer to this.Bio Sculpture Gel have over 90 different colours of gel ( they are the only brand on the market which are straight gel, all the others are mixed with acrylic binders and are damaging). You can order from Bio Sculpture once you have completed your training. For example in Australia you must be a Beauty Therapist or a Nail Technician to be able to train with Bio Gel. Once I was a qualifed Beauty Therapist I paid AU $500 to train with Bio Sculpture and then you must purchase the starter kit (AU$900) to begin using their products. It sounds expensive but it is the only pure gel and good quality gel on the market.

“AMAZING!”

★★★★★

written by Maddy1020 on 17/10/2011

Calgel lasted 6 weeks on my nails without any problems! No other nail system has come close on me! I will be wearing calgel from now on, no doubt. Biosculpture had its problems on me; chipping and needed to be removed after 3 weeks as it started to look awful. My nails even feel stronger after having the calgel treatment, I have gotten so many compliments on my nails too! All thanks to calgel. Love.

I have had 2 French Calgel manicures and 1 colour. The colour did last for 3 weeks without any chipping etc and were brilliant. However, after they were soaked off and a French manicure applied my nails, which are usually very strong have started to break, split and feel very soft and the French manicure is peeling off after only 2 weeks. I feel Calgel should only be used for specail occasions as I truly believe the treatment has ruined my normally strong nails.

Never had nail overlays before. Started with false tips & now just have Calgel on my own.
They are really strong and durable and look really natural.
I would definately recommend it to anyone.
Quick and easy. No smells & no pain either!

“Never again! Calgel nails when first applied looked...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 16/05/2010

Never again! Calgel nails when first applied looked good if a little thick, then had them infilled and done in french manicure, 2 nails peeled off in week one, then my finger tips/nails felt sore and tender, couldn't get in at the saloon so soaked them off in the bath and with acetone.....to reveal oh so sore nail beds with horrible fungus infection, now I have had to cut my nails really close and apply anti fungal cream, my little pinky nail had split from cutile to tip and hurts, the rest have all split length ways and are very ugly and I'm guessing will take months to restore and heal. If you're thinking of having calgel..DON'T!

i would say this was down to your nail technicians bad preperation of the nail, before the gel overlay goes on the natural nails should be wiped clean of any oils, moisture and definatly any bacteria so no infection should occur. i would find a new salon.

Hi I totally agree with nails to love if nail technician prep is rubbish then you would have a problem, calgel is really good and natural product so no infection or sore nail should happen, for sure nail technician fault, i would go and claim insurance hunny

I found this review very helpful because... I have used Calgel for a year now, it's so addictive as your nails look so amazing and grow really fast. However I'm horrified to discover that where my nails used to grow up to the end of my finger and be really large nails, (I always got compliments) they seem to be coming away from the nail bed and they look as if they have fungal infection, however the doctor tells me there is no infection. They are aching and what a mess when I take the Gel off, so glad to hear it's not just me!!

I have had Calgel on my nails several times and they look good. However, my own nails split and break for months after the gel is removed so I only have them Calgelled for special occasions. My daughter had hers calgelled recently and on two nails the gel came off in one piece. Good on toes though as last up to two months.

Overall I am delighted and when my own nails have grown a bit {I have extensions on} I will remove the extensions and get the gel on my own nails. It's the first time I have had cal gel as opposed to acrilyc whyich have weakened my own nails and I like the idea of my own nail being protected as it grows. I'm delighted.

★★★★★

written by emza2511 on 05/09/2006

I recently had Calgel nails for the first time upon recommendation from a friend. And I have to say I was extremely impressed by them!
Calgel is an organic substance which is placed over your nail bed which enables your nails to breathe underneath helping them to grow so effectively the Calgel is your nail!
I had Calgel nails after having Acrylic nails for 3months and I have to say they were great! I had them put on before I went on holiday and admittedly I forgot they were there and took no specials measures to look after them yet they stayed on perfectly. They didn't chip or break or weaken my nail in anyway and considering I was on holiday so more active than I would be normally at work I was extremely impressed.
I would now recommend Calgel nails to anyone as they are much better for your nail and they look fantastic! As an acrylic nail wearer I have been converted! I will be having Calgel from now on! 10/10!

“I have been having Calgel Nails for about two and a...”

★★★★★

written by AndreaG on 24/08/2006

I have been having Calgel Nails for about two and a half years now. Before I had Calgel, my nails, although long, would split and crack at the slightest knock. Now it is very rare indeed that I break a nail, in fact I don't think that I have broken one for over 9 months.
Calgel is painted on like a nail varnish and there are a range of colours to choose from, including French Manicure for the natural look.
Calgel does not chip and I have even cleaned using bleach and it hasn't ever marked them. I usually have infills every 4 weeks, which is literally just the top bit of my nail painted because of the gap that appears with them growing and I usually have the gel taken off and have the painted again after another 4 weeks.
If you have nails that are weak or are brittle or even if you have a job where you are typing or cleaning which chips your nail varnish, this is a fantastic option.
The best thing is getting ready to out for a night and not having to worry about making your nails look presentable, they are a massive time saver.

Following on from my previous review, the lady that does the Calgel nails is no longer working from the White House in Mossley, she works from home now, so if you are reading this review and are in the Mossley/Ashton area you could contact her directly. Her company name is Pure Health and Beauty.

Couldn't agree more, I have really soft nails which never grew, my thumbs were a nightmare, always cracked accross about 1/4 of the way up the nail bed. No more, I have been having Calgels for about 18 months and I've never looked back. I cheat and get clear then I can paint them whatever colour I want.
I've never had any damage to my nail after removing them but you neeed to be patient and not force/pull them off. I had them done while away on holiday and they didn't last as long as when my local salon do them, so maybe you just need a good nail technician.

Evelyn90's Response to AndreaG's Review

Written on: 17/06/2010

I found this review very helpful because...I was shown these for the first time at a local salon and as I have very brittle and soft nails - they break so easily, this looks great. As I work with food, I have alwyas been wary of Acrylics, so often apply false nails myself. I am going to give the Calgel a try and see how I get on! To have nice nails all the time would be wonderful. Then all I need to do is find someone to treat the cellulite, flatten my tummy and get rid of crepey looking skin!!
