THE ONLY PLUS IS THE HOTELS PROXIMITY TO THE MAIN PENKEN GONDOLA. THE CHOICE ON THE EVENING MENU WAS LIMITED TO TWO MEAT DISHES AND A VEGETARIAN MEAL AND ONE DESSERT. THE FOOD TASTED THE SAME EACH DAY. WE TRAVELLED IN A PARTY OF 12 AND FOUND EACH ROOM TO BE OF A TOTALLY DIFFERENT STANDARD (EACH ROOM IS DIFFERENT) RANGING FROM 2 STAR TO 4 STAR. DEPENDING ON THE POSITION OF YOUR ROOM YOU COULD BE KEPT AWAKE UNTIL THE EARLY HOURS WITH THE NOISE FROM THE HOTELS SPORTS BAR. ONE NIGHT I WAS KEPT AWAKE UNTIL 5AM.

If you are coming to Austria I would not recommend Inghams holidays. I went alone and as soon as I arrived at my hotel did not see any rep all week. They just don't bother. However the hotel was good, only down point is it shuts too early. If you want to go to Austria go with Thomsons instead

Overall despite a few injuries a smoke filled hotel 141/2 hours to get home with our big party we managed to have a great holiday. The ski area was big enough for most levels of skier and boarder

We went to the Sporthotel Strass in a group of 9, which was two families of mixed ski/board ability. My family had been to Austria many times before. We were made to feel a burden when we arrived in the dining room on the first evening... reception had passed on to the Maitre D that there were 8, not 9 of us. The Head Waiter told us that he was fully booked up, and laid the problem of seating us firmly in our court!! One of the English waitresses salvaged the situation, and we were accommodated the night after (only after being told by the head waiter how much trouble we had caused). The food was acceptable but not as nice as we have previously enjoyed elsewhere... I don't enjoy frozen vegetables in a restaurant, which is what we got one evening.
The Bars and lounges are large and sprawling, which means that there is a lack of cosiness and atmosphere. Our room was very bland and unattractive.
The Hotel is ideally situated in the town centre next to the gondola and close to shops and ski rental shops if you need them.
The Fitness centre, in which it is compulsory to be naked, is the best sauna/pool complex I have ever been in. It was maintained very well and was an experience in itself.
The resort was very noisy at night, especially at the weekend.
I enjoyed the holiday on the whole, but prefer Zell am Zee as a resort.

I had an absolutely fabulous holiday at the Sporthotel Strass in Austria. The food was excellent. The sports facilities were excellent, and the staff were very friendly and professional.
I will hopefully return next year.

Sporthotel Strass is one of the best hotels i've ever been in. The food is wonderful, the room was exactly what you want for a skiing holliday. There are 5 bars and a underground night club in the hotel. The Lobby Bar is good for a relax, The Sports Bar And Grill is good for a late snack or meal. The pool bar is a helpful way to socialise after a swim. The Speak Easy Bar is always packed and has the best music in the resort usualy live. The Garage Bar is for the all nighters. The Arena night club is one of the top 2 in the resort.
