Top Gear magazine is one of, if not the most popular car magazine available. Containing information about the latest cars, driving news, the travels and dramas of the Top Gear team it's a great magazine for car lovers and car buyers alike. However, recent criticism of the program is that it is more about drama and expensive cars than useful information for the everday person. Is the magazine falling into the same trap or avoided it, let us know. Top Gear magazine subscriptions look set to be high for the coming future, but is it deservedly so?

Top Gear is one of the best car magazines I have read. For those who love cars it must be known that one page of Top Gear is more interesting than any other magazine. It is well illustrated and beautifully printed; it has a good content, informative articles and good stories. "Top Gear Subcriber's Edition" covers all classes of automobiles from Alfa Romeo to Volvo. The cost is rather high but the content and enjoyment in reading it is priceless.

I tried to sign up for a 6 month subscription for a Christmas present for a friend. Was annoyed that I could buy 13 Issues for a single payment on credit card, but 6 issues had to go on direct debit. I then cancelled the DD before I forgot & was charged for a 2nd series of 6 months, but these intelligent people cancelled the whole subscription! After 3 emails, and a phone call to a person without a brain the situation is resolved...I have been given 2 issues free and paid for a new 6 month subscription, which I now have to remember to cancel. I can well imagine Jeremy Clarkson's response to such nonsense

it may seem obvious but this is brilliant for car enthusiast but not for topgear fans,if you see it in the shop ignore the title,if you still want it go ahead and buy it. you won't regret it as an adult but don't get it for little johnny it's written for adults.

Top Gear is one of the best car magazines I have read. It has content that every car lover would be inquisitive about and moreover its pictures are clear and sharp. Its price may be on the higher side but I don't mind shelling out for the mind blowing services that it offers.

When I first read the magazine I liked it, but since then they have changed the format and I love it. It is interesting AND informative, very few magazines do both. It offers all the info and updates that other car mags do, and throws in a load of Top Gear wit too. One feature that's very helpful for someone looking to buy a new car is the Car Guide at the back of the magazine, whih includes all the new models, pictures of them, info/specs and price, all presented in a neat table spanning
about 15(?) pages. It also includes in-depth reviews of some current models, news on concepts/future models and Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond
and James May all have their own article. It also has some other great inserts that make it well worth the £4.00 cost. One bad point is the layout, you find yourself freqently looking at the contents page. But, overall it is a very good mag, and a good buy.

The Top Gear mag is a brilliant resource for all car mad fans or just fans of Top Gear, with articles written by Jeremy and James. And a lot more.

Top Gear Car Magazine has good details about diffrent types of cars although it does cost a lot of money.

The background colours give me a headache as do the adverts. Apart from that it is funny and factual. I would recomend Evo magazine over Top Gear though. Top Gear seems too money-focused where as Evo seem to have a liking for cars more.

I have just bought Top Gear Magazine as when I was in Asda I noticed it came with a free book Clarkson on Cars so it was a bargain. This is also due to my usual motoring magazine Car not being out until tomorrow as well. A quandary overcome; then when a £7.99 book comes with a £3.90 magazine. Only some times do I read Top Gear. My favourite listing magazine on cars was What Car? That has gone all consumer orientated on new cars, boring in other words.
I had spent years with my head buried in What Car? As a teenager dreaming up exotic specifications to the cars of the day as in Ford Escort with a heater and 4 speed gearbox a heated rear window and cigar lighter!
The format of Top Gear and the figures they include pages and pages of advertisements. Then there is a features list on the Clio 197, XKR, E-Type, Mustang, Corvette, Camaro, Z4, Porsche need I say more this is not for everybody next a page list of regular features Koenigsegg CCX, Ducato, Maserati, Audi, and lastly Volvo.
This is what Auto Express readers miss out on and What Car: the high end market. Top Gear magazine is now under the influence of Top Gear the Telly programme on BBC2. It's an institution and Jeremy Clarkson is the master of both.
We start after the letters of one paragraph then a page in the magazine with a list of 80 people whom work for it! More ads then a section called metal the latest offerings form manufacturers a camper van and truck are included for some reason as a Muppet called J Kay has the first caravan for celebrity hair dressers a bit on the London Motor show follows the non event of the year by the look of it. Most of the magazine is full of more advertisements.
After flicking through at least 2 double page adverts comes a section called Faces Clarkson puts his three penny worth in and then James May from the TV show another couple of non entities also get a page each. Then a section about advertising cars 4 pages of it! Then an advertising feature by Renault whom really need, all the advertising they can get all on 10 pages of extra thick paper.
Top Gear then has a section on Audi rebuilding old Nazi racing cars. Then more adverts and pieces by people you have never heard of now we are up to page 90.
Top Gear's next section is on Drives yes driving cars Audi TT 4 pages on it! Then a section on all the American Muscle Cars to celebrate the introduction of 21C versions of all these great muscle cars from the 1960's reborn. Bullets' Mustang the Vanishing Points Challenger a Camaro from what ever Corvette from? This goes up to page 170 with adverts galore and then a bit about boring cars as well.
Next the Lifers section on long term test cars: yawn. A 62 page New Car Guide follows from that all the info worth knowing.
In the world of new models equipment engine performance and price all need to be compared from one model to the next and it is not L, GL, GLS any more it is VVT, CD Ti or VXR.
Lastly 60 Pages of advertisements who then own this magazine it is a cash cow for the BBC all creativity with no criticism. It seems if you want to find out something critical best do it your self. Want some pretty pictures and creativity gone mad this fits the bill. If you want second hand car prices a look at the adverts will have to do because the magazine is not going to tell you anything. A coffee table car magazine on par then with other coffee table fashion magazines like Vogue for instance. What more do you what?

Top Gear tries to be more of an entertaining read than the other fact based car magazines but lacks the wit of Top Gear on TV. Being a monthly mag, the news has usually already been covered by autoexpress.

I think this was meant to be about the show. It is in 'TV Programmes' section. Better luck next time
