We bought a Smeg dishwasher during the first Covid lockdown as our trusty old Kenwood gave up the ghost. We thought Smeg were decent products......NO DEFINITELY NOT! I am sick and tired of it not cleaning dishes etc properly. I am constantly having to rewash everything. I've tried loading fewer items to see if it makes a difference but no, it doesn't. If just one item was put in, it would still come out dirty! And why Very disappointing. I will never by anything with the name Smeg on it ever again.

I have several cheaper dishwashers most of which gave me at least 5 years service. When the last one gave up I thought I would spend more and buy a more up market machine, namely a SMEG. This I did and whilst it worked it performed fairly well. However just short of 3 years I started to get error messages - the water failed to heat. I thought change the flow through heater would solve it, First I found it impossible to get the part in the after parts market, so I could only source direct from smeg - part was quoted at £150, but with labour VAT etc total cost exceeds the price of a new machine. Because of all the hassle and time I spent on this I eventually bought a new machine and scrapped the SMEG . I would have expected to get at least 5 years trouble free from an expensive machine - very disappointed.

Smeg has a variety of high-end dishwasher. Features too are good. You can get plenty of choice inside the middle price range of smeg. t is convenient to use.

I have Smeg dishwasher 13 place dishwasher which is integrated . I always had problem with dishwaser. The RCB circuitbreaker keeps going off whenever I put my dishwasher on. I have been calling service engineers repeatedly. They always come first and say they cannot find anything and go snd dishwasher then breaks down. Then they come again and find fault and correct later. I am fed up with this model.

I bought a Smeg 14 place dishwasher on the advice of a salesman . We had the extra 2 yr product care replacement . It required one repair during that time .This was completed well and efficiently at no cost to myself.However....... At 3 yrs it started to pour water all over the kitchen floor . Damaging my wooden floor and of course its now out of warranty. Don`t be misled by the Smeg name. I think from my experience they are relying on previous good products to sell inferior short term goods. I believe a dishwasher is not an insignificant purchase and should have a much longer expected life.

This Smeg DI6013D-1 is Possibly the worst product I’ve ever bought! Don’t buy one thinking it’s an upgrade to any other one...it really isn’t. This morning it couldn’t even remove the coffee from a cup, well 2 cups actually. It is a shame that these items are so large and plumbed in as we would have returned it long ago. As I believe many other people would too. It is not fit for purpose and I feel aggrieved at having spent the extra money on one. The one it replaced was a Bosch, but I’ve had other brands too (at work places etc) and this is the worst one. In detail: It doesn’t clean things! And no I haven’t over filled it Badly designed interior means glasses don’t fit and or turn over. Long knives slide out when closing the drawers. Lower drawer handle is in the way of loading and unloading. I believe the previous reviewer to be correct when they suggested it was designed by an imbecile, I think they were kind!

We recently replaced a NEFF dishwasher after 6 years service with a Smeg. Aptly named it is a truly awful piece of kit. It must have been designed by an absolute imbecile with no practical experience of putting stuff in a dishwasher. Not enough space for plates, the cup/ glass section is all at angles which means if you have any bottom heavy items like most glasses, they will not stand up and so roll around unless you have them wedged in. Every day becomes like a jigsaw puzzle of trying to figure out which crockery should go where to ensure it doesnt finish the right way up and full of dirty water. It’s washing capability is questionable. Everything has to be virtually washed first before it will deign to do its job. If I had read reviews like these I would have never considered buying a smeg dishwasher and if you are in the same position dont....

We purchased Smeg dishwasher Jan 2017. Fault with manufacturing and following 3 visits from engineers not working until March. Complained to Smeg who did not want to know and would not even extend warranty for further 2 months that machine not working. We bought Smeg as thought good brand. Disappointed.

We moved into a newbuild house where most of the appliances were included. Our developer had chosen Smeg and we were pretty OK with that as we thought Smeg were a decent make. Six years on, we have a very different view. The double oven element went after two years and needed replacement after 2 years, and then the replacement element went the same way 3 years later. Enough was enough and we replaced the oven with a Neff model which is excellent. Even replacing the oven, the difference in quality was obvious; the Smeg was pressed steel at the sides and rear with sharp edges. The Neff was all rounded corners and seemed engineered to a far higher standard. But my real hatred was for the dishwasher, the now (I believe) obsolete DI612CA9. This contraption was only a very basic step up from washing by hand. No warning on rinse aid or salt. Either keep topping up the rinse aid or wait for glasses to come out streaky. The salt was a green float in the salt filler cap that sank as the salinity of the solution decreased. The idea was that when you couldn't see the green float through the window it was time to fill the salt up. Always saw the float so wasn't much use. Very basic functions. Found it very loud in use. The racking was poor - the cutlery holder frequently toppled over, as did glasses in the upper shelf. In the lower shelf it was hard to put baking trays as the spray arm would often hit them. Objects would come out clean after washing to be fair, but when they started to come out dirty that was the only excuse I needed to replace the thing. Now just waiting for the fridge freezer and hob to die.

I have a Smeg dishwasher, model D16012-1 which is now 1 year old. Despite being instructed not to rinse the dishes etc before putting them in the machine, I find that there is a residue on the back of the dishes where the drying process has baked on food residue. I also 'lost' the cap to the rinse-aid department. It would appear that Smeg won't supply the cap alone, but insist that you purchase the complete tablet and rinse-aid component at a cost of just under £70 which, if one was to change the unit, then needs an expert to fit it.

We recently moved into a house which had had an integrated Smeg dishwasher fitted less than 18 months previous. It does not clean well, resulting in the need to re wash many items from the top level after the cycle which is rather wearing. For reasons I do not understand, you cannot fit standard dinner plates into the bottom section or chopping boards as the rotating arm would hit them. I can't wait to replace this ill designed model for another make which may serve the basic requirements of a dishwasher more effectively. This one is frankly very poor and I would discourage anyone else from purchasing one.

Hi bought our Smeg dishwasher a while back , but have to say it is nowhere near as good as our previous Hotpoint Dishwasher which lasted years and years. The Hotpoint used to give you sparkling dishes etc the Smeg just does not do that, we have the finish of the cleaning in the sink with lots of things very disappointed. Would not recommend Smeg dishwashers as they don't wash good enough.

Purchased a Smeg Dishwasher DC136LW from Curry's online in July 2012. By Sept 2012 it had packed up completely. Under guarantee as only 2 months old. Waited 3 weeks to get it repaired. (Parts coming from overseas). Beginning Dec 2012, stopped working again. Engineer came out 13th December 2012. Same issue as previous. Got to order parts again, should only take 4/5 days. Its now 9th Jan 2013 and when I called to chase, parts still not in!!! Therefore all of Christmas had inconvenience of no dishwasher. Service engineers not the slighted bit interested. Currys Online customer services incredibly rude and unhelpful when I requested a replacement dishwasher in Sept 2012 when it first stopped working. I have always purchased Bosch dishwashers in the past. I am so wishing I had this time. An absolute waste of money. PLEASE, PLEASE UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES BUY A SMEG dc136lW DISHWASHER .... unless you enjoy washing up by hand that is, because that is what I have wasted time doing over past 6 months !!! :-(

Exactly the same thing happened to me! bought a Smeg Dishwasher just before Christmas, broke down in January - had to wait over a month for spares to arrive from Italy. Engineer came back on Monday to fix it and today it is broken again - same fault. Smeg Service won't get an engineer to me for another week! Today - I booked it in for a full refund. I used Bosch previously too - will be going back to them!

We have had our smeg slimline dishwasher for nearly 8 years..... This is the second time the dishwasher has broken down.....the first time it broke down was within 3 years of the Smeg included 5 year guarantee where there was a major electronic console fault.
Even then it took two attempts to verify the fault with the dishwasher.
Nearly 5 years later our dishwasher has developed a fault and we have
Have invested over £100 to call out an engineer via a smeg repair specialist to replace a part within the machine and unfortunately the dishwasher has become even more noisy and flooded the kitchen floor and has generated a new error code while still displaying the original error!
We contacted smeg headquarters and they do not want to know.....they are only interested in selling new dishwashers....very very disappointing. They are very good at fobbing off existing customers whom have existing appliance smeg problems....
As for smeg specialist repair operation they refunded part of our money for the repair but kept £44 admin fee!

The runners in our smeg dishwasher lasted less than 12 months and the design does not allow plates to stand up without hitting the spinning washer. It is absolute rubbish.

I have never had such a poor product, it won't take plates properly, it doesn't wash and the detergent compartment opens as and when it can be bothered. Truly awful design, build quality and capability

We bought a stainless steel Smeg dishwasher and it stopped working soon after the guarantee ran out. We wasted money having it repaired because if failed again soon after. It was junk within 2 years of purchase.
Smeg products look stylish but are very badly made and unreliable, it is a brand we avoid completely now.

I have yet to find a dishwasher sales person in Comet - from whence I bought this piece of rubbish- who knows what a 12 place setting comprises let alone what size a "dinner" plate should be. I have also learned that as Comet have bought out the manufacturer's guarantee Smeg will do nothing to help or rectify the situation and have basically washed their hands of it even though Comet keep referring me back to them.

I think Smeg are highly disappointing products. If you think I'm making it up, go ahead and buy one of their over priced units, and see how long it lasts before flooding your home. Save yourself loads of grief and buy a (working) Bosch.

We purchased a Smeg dishwasher in January 2017 but not working until March due to fault in manufacturing. Took 3 visits to fix and complaint to Smeg was just ignored and they would not extend warranty for further 2 months for time it was not working. Very disappointed by Smeg’s attitude
