“Great site with plenty to keep kids and adults occupied ”

Walked into a warm and very clean modern caravan. Well done cleaners. Well equipped and mattresses the best I’ve slept on in Parkdean park. The staff and facilities were fantastic, had a very tired three year old every day, she slept like a log. Only downside was, it was a bit muddy at front door but it was march and just had a week of snow. We love Scarborough and will definitely be going back. My granddaughter also loves the characters, except narsty, he’s to big ???? well done Caton bay

Booked a cheap break via Sun holidays for the end of April. The caravan was.lovely.clean and modern. It had Wi-Fi and central heating.Really could not beleave how nice it was for the money we paid. Perfect location, not too far from the bus stops. for Filey, Scarborough and Brid. Did not use the car at all. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Would definitely return to Cayton bay.lovely site and wonderful stsff. Thank you. R.and P

“No Upgrade Available!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by EleanorWhitby on 02/07/2012

Hi all, My family and I have been planning a trip down 'memory lane' for a few months now. With the option to take the children to Cayton Bay, Scarborough and explore Yorkshire just like I did with my own parents on the horizon in a couple of weeks. I chased up my confirmation last week so I could see what we needed with 14 days to pay the remainder and then upgrade our caravan I set uff on a work trip for a few days. I have just got back home this evening to find first a confirmation letter from Park Resorts to say that my booking is confirmed entitled 'Yippee .... Its not long now until your holiday' and then another one to say that 'We have had to cancel your booking :)' rather confused I have just called them, my booking has been re-instated (at least it will be tomorrow) but there are no longer any upgrades available, obviously if our confirmation had arrived a few months ago when it was booked we would have just gone ahead and chosen our inevitable upgrade then. I have heard terrible things and read awful reviews about the standard of the based caravans at this park, we are now not looking forward to our holiday at all. If anyone can help with any 'tricks' on how to sort this out I would be really grateful. Thanks, EW

Me and my family went for a four day break and came back home earlier than expected. We arrived at the site for a 2:30 check in which was badly sign posted were to check in at. Our caravan which was meant to be a silver plus was in a right mess it hadn't even been cleaned out. There was lamp shades missing weird stains on the walls the carpet was a right mess and the beds weren't even maid up. The security as they called it was pretty much not secure at least at other caravan parks you see them driving around.also while we were there our caravan electric went out we reported it to maintenence which never came out to fix it we had to fix it ourselves and as my mother is disabled i find that rather horrible. As for the entertainment that was very poor and the room was very very cold

“12th stay at cayton”

★★★★★

written by on 13/04/2012

Me and my parents go every year to cayton , since me mother went in her childhood and everytime we go , they couldn't do enough for us. I came back for the day on the 11/4/12 for the day and was looking for a van to buy (with uncle) and stuart - salesman - was so lovely! Anyway , back to our stay , the weather was awful but all the facilities were top notch! I would recomend this park to families who could use a break ! Thankyou for a great time and see you in june!

“brilliant time even if you cant drive”

★★★★★

After stopping in a silver caravan for the week on the 3rd sept we thought we'd be cut off a bit which was a bit of a downer but as the bus stop was right outside the park we realised we were not as cut off as we thought. We bought a day rover ticket for £3.75 which covered all the buses in the scarborough area, even including the open topped buses that run around the sea defences from the south bay to the north bay(the ones with the ribbon on the front),and as a 1 way ticket around there costs £2 we found the day rover amazing value. The last bus was 19:05 but as we were so tired we didnt mind this as we were glad to get back to the caravan to shower and relax,if you stay in scarborough i'd recommend the cafe on the corner cafe down the steep road that leads to the harbour, amazing home cooked food at really really cheap prices, try the shepherds pie or braised steak, its to die for lol. If you wish to ignore the bus and get a taxi back to the caravan park,it cost us £6.50 using bee line taxis, all in all both me and my partner had a brilliant time and deffo hope to go again next year.

“Clean and well presented site”

★★★★★

written by derbydave on 28/05/2011

After reading some reviews on here with caravans being dirty and staff unhelpful we were worried about our stay, however, we found it completely the opposite. We stopped on a 3 night stay and on arrival to our bronze caravan it was very clean. To be honest, it looked brand new. Everything was in working order from top to bottom. The park wasn't that full and was a bit quiet, but to be expected at the date we went with kids still being at school. However, the entertainment at night was spot on with the entertainment staff being very friendly and lively. The room is planned out very well for children and adults. Drinks are expensive(ish) Fosters is £3.35. Coke £1.75. Slush puppies £1.99. However they do cordial for kids at 35p, which kept costs down. There's also a chip shop on site so you can get something after a few drinks if need be. The prices are pretty steep but the quality of the food was good and in large quantity. Chips are around £1.75. Burgers around £4. There's not much outside of the park in walking distance so you either need your own transport, or you can use the buses. A bus stop is right outside the entrance of the park. We would visit this site again without a doubt

“We went to the Cayton Bay site in July last year and...”

★★★★☆

written by Fluk3 on 06/01/2011

We went to the Cayton Bay site in July last year and stayed in a silver level caravan. Upon arrival the caravan was clean and tidy and ready for use. The silver level caravans do not have heating in the bedrooms and if booking I would recommend upgrading to a gold level so that you have the additional heating as the caravan did get cold. There is a gas fire that does it's job in warming the living and kitchen area, but the heating was sorely missed in the bedrooms.

The pub/restaurant on site had polite staff and there was a good selection of food available with the quality and price of food and drink being similar to that of an average pub.

For the children there is a fairly large indoor climbing/play area, an outdoor play area and football pitch and also an indoor smimming pool and slide.

The indoor play area is accessable only from within the pub/restaurant so that the children can play safely whilst you eat and drink and also has a smaller area that is suitable for under 3's to play.

The outdoor play area starts with the enclosed football pitch outside the pub/restaurant and runs towards the front of the building where the main play area is.

The amusement arcade is the usual affair with games ranging from the usual ticket reward machines and grabber machines through to arcade racing and shooting games.

Also on site is an indoor swimming pool and slide. There are a handfull of changing cubicles, but sufficient enough so that you are not left waiting. The pool is not deep and the water is warm. What let the pool down on our visit was someone allowed a child to swim without a swimming nappy who innevitably had an 'accident' I let the lifeguard know and expected the pool to be closed and cleaned, but he simply got out his net and bucket and scooped out all that he could.

Never-the-less this was not so much of a problem for ourselves as we use caravan sites as a base and spend the vast majority of our time off site visiting local attractions. Scarborough is only a 5 to 10 minute drive down one road and has it's own leisure centre, plenty of shops ranging from Tesco and the big high street brands through to those selling holiday tat, a beach, castle, sealife centre and also a play centre that dwarfs that of the one onsite.

Driving in the opposite direction for a few minutes will bring you to a farm and petting zoo which is good value for money and can easily take up half of your day as it also has it's own indoor and outdoor play areas. The outdoor play area is large and of good quality, the indoor play area has childrens ride on tractors and large padded shapes to play with. The petting zoo also has it's own restaurant serving a selection of good quality home made food.

I can not comment on the onsite entertainment as we didn't bother with any of it. However, the entertainment room looked to be of an ample size and had quite a large bar area.

If you like to spend most of your time off the camp then I would highly recommend Cayton Bay due to it's proximity to a lot of local attractions for both children and adults.

Stayed in a 3bed Gold caravan got it at great price or would have complained very dissapointed...carpet was filthy, lumpy beds, crockery chipped, and broken not the usual standard altought he bedding was fresh and clean maybe just unlucky.
Great park not too big had plenty for the kids to do. The pool was warm and depth good but not enough changing facilities. Also people walking at poolside with outdoor shoes on and no-one doing anything about it YUK..Food in restaurant was lovely with friendly staff also had huge indoor kids play area added bonus. Didn't go to adult entertainment as kids found it too noisy why do they have to crank the sound up so loud!!. I would recommend this park for the area, and kids FREE entertainment also great play park would not recommend for the accommodation especially if it has been raining as there is no parking next to some of the vans and the grass becomes very boggy to say the least be prepared and phone in advance to book a van with slabbed drive is possible. Hope this helps...

Upgraded to a silver on arrival which had dirty carpets and seats, screws sticking out of carpet finishers and kitchen doors, two lights did not work toilets smelt and the whole van smelt of smokeing, this put us of and we left after one night.
The park is situated well in scarborough but just seems tired and run down.

written by on 20/09/2010

On arrival we were told our Caravan was not ready for another hour, but we could upgrade there and then for £20 extra to a Silver which we did. However, the bin had not been cleaned, the floor was untidy and the cleaner had left documents on show from the previous user which had their name and address on! We were not sure if it was a Silver caravan, and reception said it was. They also said We were already pencilled in for that caravan anyway but were not guaranteed it whatever that means? We noticed they put a sticker over our standard caravan which we noticed was exactly the same as the silver, so we feel cheated out of £20 which we received no receipt for. The entertainment was very poor, and they were about 3 people in the room. Would not go back again and certainly would not recommend it.

Caravan didnt appear clean on arrival, still smelt of previous occupants dog!! In the bathroom the rectangular white mat was filthy so immediatly moved it. Bad bits out of the way, now the good points. Good site amenities, helpful staff and plenty for kids to do.

Cayton Bay is a lovely place to go. We paid for a silver caravan and the caravan was really nice and clean. The site, club and entertainment was nice. We had a problem when we came out of the club at night the takeaway place was shut every night apart from the first night it never had anything, so if you are hungry after drinking at night there was nothing to get. We also kept seeing the manager having a go at the staff which was not nice to see when you are on holiday.
We was told everything what to bring with us which was brilliant. When we arrived the staff was at the reception door waiting to give us our key and there was no queing. They explained where our caravan was and how to get to it. The staff in the evening with the children dancing were excellant. Having a silver caravan was brilliant because it meant we could get in at half two instead of four oclock.

written by on 13/06/2010

We have just returned from a week in a bronze 3 caravan at Cayton Bay and we thought it was fantastic. The caravan was nice and clean and tidy, beds were made up on arrival. We used all the facilities on site and could not fault it. The shop is a litte more expensive than most places (I think it is a Costcutter) but we got a Tesco grocery delivery to our caravan and only bought things we had run out of etc.

The staff were all very friendly, the kids were all well entertained, food in restaurant was very nice (similar to weatherspoons) and the oasis showbar was very nice, it all seemed very new in there.

We enjoyed it so much that we got home and booked to go back in August.
