Bristol Hotel, Gibraltar. Excellent location, within walking distance of most things and right by Main street. Our first night was spent in a poky room with two small single beds, tiny windows and nowhere to put the case. However it did have a fridge - big bonus. The ceiling light didn't work, so the next morning we asked to change rooms. The manager was delightful and said if we packed up our stuff, when we came back from sightseeing, it would all be sorted. We were moved to 222, with a double bed, single bed, settee and bigger bathroom with two sinks. Much better. Both rooms were quiet. Yes, the place was faded, but that just added to the charm. Look for the beautiful old tiles on the way to the pool. The breakfast was good, and good value in comparison with many, and at least there was ham, cheese and hardboiled eggs. The pool was small, but pleasant, but there were loads of flies everywhere. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. We were lucky to get the last parking space, however. Will definitely return, but will ask for room 222 again! Note, you can get a litre of Havana Club 7 year old for £10.80 in the local shops!!

Bristol hotel has recently been re,decorated, it is clean, comfortable and staff are helpful and friendly. The breakfast is continental; but more than adequate. The hotel is central to shopping ,sight seeing, bars and restaurants, We found it generally a great base to get to all over with!

I used to live in Gibraltar, and I would say to anybody going to visit or live out there to go for it! The monkeys are a definite yes, but WATCH out, as they will take whatever they see (handbag, food and even the sunglasses off your heed). Enjoy x

Gibraltar is a great place for a short break. Friendly people, great food, plenty to see. Hotel Bristol is not the best, but it is certainly value for money. Great for the independent traveller.
