“Awful company - Sham Artists”

★☆☆☆☆

written by KevParkin on 20/10/2023

A gang of sham artists. They admitted they charge significantly more than anyone else because "they're the best". They are appalling. The Product - So great, that they don't value it at all. The installations 'team' turned up (1 man who was 3 hours late and clearly very hungover, if not still drunk). He managed to get just 1 of 11 windows in, because his mate, who he was out drinking with the night before, didn't even bother showing up. So what does he do? Literally threw the remaining windows all over the garden and went home. They ended up getting water damaged as they hadn't been sealed and so needed to be replaced. - The patio doors stick and cannot be locked, I am having to use a bike lock round the handles to secure my home. All for just 25k... - The vents look like they were chewed rather than being cut in a factory. Poor finish all round - The windows have a horrible mist to them that will not go, I don't know if it's just rubbish product or rubbish installation. The Service - The sales guy , while making the sale, gave me his business card "call me whenever, I'll deal with everything". This was not true, when I called, he refused to deal with the enquiry and told me to call customer services. He also told me not to read the terms and conditions. I wonder why... - Contacted customer services and was told the damaged items would be ordered, then nothing. - Contacted again and nothing. - Contacted again and spoke to some woman who said she knew nothing about it as the person who dealt with my case literally left no notes and left the business. She then claimed she would order the replacements... And guess what, nothing. - Raised a complaint and spoke to their so called complaints coordinator. This man hates his job, and hates the customers. He doesn't care at all. He will never call you, and if you finally persuade him to by saying you're going to management, he'll literally call so that it rings once, then hang up. Clearly this career phone jokey knows every way to avoid work in the industry. - Scaffolders turned up and damaged my property, refused to put scaffolding where it was needed, and then left mess everywhere, which also damaged my car. They then removed it while I was in work, before the windows had been installed. Presumably they thought the scaffolding was going up to enable me to have my windows taken out and the exact same windows put back in. - I called to speak to a manager and every single time you call, whether it be 8, 9, 10, 3... Every single manager is in a meeting. Again, the contact centre work avoidance is strong with this lot of sham artists. I have reported their actions to Cheshire Police's department as it is illegal to prevent a person from reading the terms and conditions of a contract, and even without that, it would actually have been nice to get something for my money instead of rubbish thrown all over my garden, damage to my home and my car, and insulted by the person, who I believe is on a training course on how to operate a phone. Avoid this company at all costs. They are awful, their product is awful and they mislead constantly

“Refunds”

Everest require a refundable deposit before agreeing to do the work, but are very slow to refund it if they decide not to proceed. If it were the other way round they would call in the debt collectors.

“STOP STOP STOP”

★☆☆☆☆

written by KaiGreer on 01/09/2023

Don’t touch this company with a barge pole. Had windows and doors fitted 2 years ago. Windows jam and won’t open, their unique grab lock system is rubbish, corrosion on outside door handles, can’t get anyone to fix or replace. There slogan, fit the best, fit Everest should be more like, fit the best, fit someone else. After sales service is useless. Save your money, DONT USE EVEREST.

“Avoid Avoid Avoid”

Appalling quality of installation, mismeasured bay window by surveyor meant we had a piece of plywood in our living room from Oct to Dec. Mistakes everywhere. Shoddy finish. Remedial visits delayed or further remedial work needed to correct the remedial work. It has been an absolutely shambolic performance. Still not finished over a year on... I have three windows yet to finish but now left wondering how i could ever place another order with them! They have caused significant financial loss and distress.

“shocking service from start to finish”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Helsbells68 on 03/05/2023

There was a total lack of customer service from start to finish, they read emails but do not reply to them and do not respond to voicemail messages, they take messages and email them on but the final message receiver often does not get back to you. The patio doors themselves seem to be of a standard quality and certainly not worth almost double the cost compared with going with a local, long standing, reputable company with much better customer service and organisational skills. To start with they just book appointments for someone to come out and give you a quote without allocating that appointment to a sales rep until the evening before the appointment so when there is a technical issue such as server failure the appointment is lost, no one turns up, you do not get notified that no one will turn up and they do not even follow up after the missed appointment to explain or apologise, you have to telephone them to find out what on earth is going on. The same goes for remedial works When the sales rep did turn up on the second booked appointment he spent more time gossiping than trying to sell their products, I have a few technical questions most of which he answered but when I showed him the type of lock cylinder that I wanted he barely looked at it and said “yes, that is what they come with” which it turns out is incorrect and due to the way the French doors are constructed you cannot as easily change the cylinder as I have done in all our other UPVC SBD doors. A date was booked for installation but I got a telephone call early one afternoon saying that they had a cancellation and as our doors had been constructed could they come and fit them the next day, I agreed on the one condition that they telephone me in the morning to give me an estimated time of arrival. They did not, I returned home from a very early trip to the supermarket to find they were already in the process of removing the old doors, OH had unlocked the gate for them. The fitters claimed they were not told to telephone before arriving and as it was close to where they are based they would not normally do that, they only telephone in advance if the job is several hours away. Just as in the case of the sales rep they were not told in advance that they even had an installation not until that morning, both fitters thought they had a day off and one was still in bed when he got the telephone call informing him. They struggled to remove the old French door frame as it had been built into the house from new, something the local installer was aware of and knew could be an issue but not one of the Everest people considered it. The new French doors fitted well but after they removed the old ones and installed the new ones they did not remove the old raged white sealant along the edge of the floor tiles, instead they just went over it with clear sealant and it was very noticeable and untidy. Someone came out three weeks later to remove and redo the sealant but again instead of white he used a glossy clear sealant through which you can see the tide mark from the old sealant and the rough tile edges. Within a few weeks the chrome started peeling off the handles and we have since noticed rain coming in underneath.

“Don't buy opening outward doors”

★☆☆☆☆

written by AlisaMontgomery on 28/03/2023

Do not ask Everest to fit outward opening composite doors. In effect, they fit an opening inward door the wrong way round, so that the hinges are on the outside of the door and the door is not flush with the frame. They look appalling and no-one will explain this to you before you purchase. I ordered three "matching" doors. They do not match and I have refused delivery. Everest are not engaging with me and I am taking them to the Small Claims Court to get my money back.

written by McLaughlin1989 on 25/02/2023

Had windows fitted gaps so large you could put you hand between fram and wall. Could see daylight to outside. Covered up with plastic trims. More noise than old windows and draughty. Seriously avoid these at all costs you will regret it. Do not believe the 5 star reviews they are written by the company.

“AVOID”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Davidblondon on 08/02/2023

Had app 7 oct from Everest the rep was annoyed that I didn’t hear when he called my door bell he was unable to provide me with pictures of what the secondary glazing would look like instead he drew a couple of lines on his phone which I couldn’t see properly as the picture kept moving. When he left he put his hand on my shoulder and said thanks mate. I found the whole experience unprofessional and I was very uncomfortable calling a 55 year old mate over familiar and patronizing as for the hand on the shoulder was a step to far. I informed called Everest straight away about my experience and spoke to a representative she said it was very unprofessional they said someone would get back to me by the end of the day no body did. I did get a call from an agent if I wanted to proceed I informed him I was waiting for customer service to call me back 2 min later I got a call from his manager was was rather perplexed by what had happened. Ive since has an estimate from Britelite so far Ive had good service from a knowledgeable professional advisor at my home. I will be going with this company to install my double glazing. I informed him of my experience with Everest he quite rightly said everybody has the same level of customer service regardless. This was echoed by the complaints dept today at Everest. 0 satisfaction. Date of experience: 07 October 2022

“Everest: ''We Fit.....if your lucky''”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Cochranelk482 on 23/12/2022

First thing you should know about Everest is that they are owned by a private equity firm: Better Capital, after going into administration in 2020, voiding all previous customer's warranties then opening up again under a different company name 'Everest 2020 Limited'. Private equity firms are essentially the leaches of the business world, they suck out every drop of profit for their shareholders, cut corners everywhere they can to maximise them profits and keep any investment at minimum or zero, until the company again goes bust. My mother had been an Everest customer for over 40 years, paying a shocking amount of money to have her home done in high quality aluminium double glazing, back in the 80’s when Everest actually earned the title 'fit the best' now it should be 'fit if you’re lucky'. We, now looking back at it, stupidly opted to go with Everest for a back door replacement, thinking it would be the same exceptional service, unfortunately as stated at the start of this post, the impact of being owned by a private equity firm is taking its toll, customer service is none existent, if you managed to get through to someone, they are hard faced, rude and brash. It's only when they want their money do, they suddenly become proactive (8 times they rang my 70yo mother in one day, from 4 different numbers with 2 voicemails and 3 text messages, chasing the final amount of just over £200 only a couple of hours after fitting) then there is the fitting.......Of course all the sales patter is very fast, quick and efficient. But once they get the bulk of your money, it's like Russian roulette, after waiting weeks for a door to be built, our installation date of the 21st Dec was brought forward to the 8th Dec, fab! we thought, the 8th arrived, ‘’oh no, won't be fitted today’’, installer hurt himself, disgruntled we rebooked for the 16th Dec, the 16th arrived, ‘’oh no, it won't be fitted today’’, installer is ill, by this time we are understandably fuming, one of the people in the ‘’Customer Relations’’ department, who we can’t name on here, treated my mother as complete dirt, obnoxious and very unhelpful, she simply made the matter worse, how she is allowed to deal with customers is anyone’s guess. Hope someone will at lease heed my warning and avoid the now lengthy problems and stress we have had to endure, Everest is not the company it used to be, and indeed it never will be, it's on a level with the likes of Safestyle UK, go small or independent for your windows and doors, Everest is proof that a long guarantee means nothing, so you might as well support a more deserving business, than feeding the private equity vultures.

Absolutely garbage service. Gave me an appointment but no one came on the day. I wrote a complaint and received assurances that someone would contact me to reschedule. No one contacted me, not rescheduling. Finally, they sent me an email asking me how their team did when they came to my home for the appointment!! Are these guys drunk or something????

“Make sure your check and double check everything”

written by Ellez372 on 11/07/2022

After paying this company approx £20,000 for new doors and windows I discovered I was 3 restrictors short. As I did this in two separate sessions I ,am aged to get 2 of the 3 restrictors fitted but was told they would only fit the last o r if I was prepared to pay for it. Apparently what I covered with the sales rep didn’t count for anything it was up to the surveyor. I now feel that I was just the payee with no say in my windows and was given what the surveyor thought which was not what I wanted. In my opinion save your money and go elsewhere

“AVOID AVOID AVOID ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by ycWelsh81 on 09/06/2022

Avoid this compnay like the plague! Awful customer service, installers were rude, one of them peed on the outside of my house even though we had a working toilet (they were even installing the window in the toilet room??!), laughed at me and turned up late every single day (took more days than needed as they were only working half days due to turning up so late). When installed there were cracks and chips in the windows, there were draughts coming through the windows and doors, the windows didn’t shut correctly so we had the heating on full throughout winter for months until it was finally fixed! All they offered was £300 off the £10,000 bill. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! I wish I researched more into the reviews seeing so many bad ones after using them! Caused so much unneeded stress and anxiety. Disgusting.

“After sale's service is appalling. ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Colinbeddows on 27/05/2022

After sales service is appalling, we have had several appointments cancelled on the day they were due to arrive. When we got back in touch we were told that somebody would call back but never did. We had windows fitted in January and was left with gapping gaps around the frame that you could see outside. We finally got someone round to seal them up in April. The scaffolding used was left on our front garden from January to the April, nobody collected it. We are now at the end of May and still awaiting the window boards to be fitted. We used Everest based on the past history as being the best you could get. I would not recommend them to anyone. Once they got the final payment on the day of fitting we have had to fight really hard to get the problems resolved. Don't use them if you want hassle free replacement windows.

“Refusing to honour 10 year warranty”

★☆☆☆☆

written by NickClohessy on 18/04/2022

Everest "went out of business" during lockdown. Now they are back. However, by claiming to be a new business they are refusing to honour the 10 year warranties for ANYTHING they sold and installed before lockdown. So my pensioner mother has been forced to pay herself to replace the roof in her conservatory after it developed multiple leaks. This conservatory was less than 5 years old and still well within the 10 year warranty. But the "new" Everest claim they don't have to honour it since it was the "old" Everest who sold and installed the conservatory. Absolute disgrace.

Bullseye2020's Response to NickClohessy's Review

Written on: 04/03/2023

Same experience. Leaking conservatory roof which was fitted 2015 with a ten year warranty. Informed Everest will no longer honour the guarantee. So sorry about your mum's problem, agree, absolutely disgraceful

“Third Faulure”

★★☆☆☆

written by vhPotter300 on 16/04/2022

Everest has some real problems It was probably a good company at one time which is why I chose them to install secondary windows in my flat. My experience has been negative. Although the livingroom windows were fitted correctly the Bedroom windows are still waiting to be installed properly. Bedroom secondary windows were to be installed January 2022 It is now April 2022 and after THREE attempts to fit them correctly, , I now understand from the Third attempt that the frame is off centre and it will have to be removed and replaced again before fitting the secondary windows for a FOURTH attempt. I would have preferred to have given Everest a better review. The fitters that have come to my flat have been honest and sympathetic but unfortunately it is the end result that counts

Everest installed 3 windows in March 2020 using a loan arranged through them. I was unaware that the life time guarantee became null and void at the time of administration. Do I have any warranties on these windows? What do I do if I need to make a claim in the future?

Over ten years ago I had secondary glazing/windows put in. Over time some of the sliders/spacers that fit in the side grooves to stabilise and balance the windows have slipped off and have got lost. I have been looking to replace the sliders but they seem to be nonexistent. Please can someone advise where I can obtain the sliders/spacers as some of the windows are no longer sitting correctly?

In reality Everest should be able to rep,ace them as their windows are suppose to carry a lifetime guarantee but unfortunately Everest is far from the company it use to be and these days they are interested only in you signing the agreement and taking your money. The quality of their product has fallen dramatically and their after sales customer service is none existant. Personally I would not touch them if they were the last window and door company on the planet. I wish you well but you are probably going to be out of luck and Everest will want to fit you triple glazing but I would strongly suggest to find a private company as they are less likely to rip you off and will do a much better job.

Sadly, I agree with the answer of the person below. Everest are NOT the customer-service they were 25 years ago when we first had them install our windows. One of the window handles would not function properly. After much tooing and froing it, it became that Everest was not going to help. However, if you talk to your local locksmiths, for example, you will find them much more amenable.

Frankly I wouldn't touch EVEREST with a barge pole. I ordered two new windows from them summer of 2013 the only and main criteria being that I could clean the outsides while stood in my bedroom and I requested tilt and turn or patio type windows, their sales rep Geoff Mitchell insisted on selling me a new type of hinged window that could be flipped in order to clean the outside, reluctantly I agreed to these windows however, the windows actually fitted are top hinged swing out windows that are impossible to clean from inside because GEOFF saw fit to change my order AFTER he left my property and despite the fact that the change was not counter signed by me EVEREST will do nothing about it. I am 67 years old and feel robbed as the windows cost me a whopping £4120 and are now impossible to clean as one of them is over a 6 meter deep conservatory so completely unreadable from outside. Now 18 months down the line the windows are so dirty they might just as well not be there. I suggest you use a local company as the large companies EVEREST, Anglian and the like are only out for your money and their after sales customer service is none existant.
Report this content prettypolly13 Written on: 18/02/2015
If triple glazed really is better don't do it with Everest. A thoroughly disreputable company is the best you can say about them. The real agenda here is probably to sign you up to a loan highly favourable to them.

I love the triple glazing-definite noise reduction and better insulation, but not 'silent'. Worth the money? Yes-but definitely NOT from Everest-the glass is great but the frames are leaky and draughty. Not impressed :-(

I know it's too late, but ALWAYS use local firms, never national ones like Everest. There is no support once a problem occurs and the products are very pricey and have lots of issues. Just look how many people are downvoting them here - quite right too from our experience.
