The Renault Laguna I Have Is A 2000 W Reg 1.8 16v

The Renault Laguna I have is a 2000 W reg 1.8 16V sports model. The 1.8 engine gives it a fair amount of power with 120bhp which is good for motorway and town driving, but it's never going to keep up with anything that actually is "sporty".

One surprise is the handling, for a fairly big car it doesn't wallow around corners and has a lot of grip (due to large 205 tyres) Petrol consumption is also quite good for a large car.

One complaint would be forward visibility at junctions etc. The side pillars seem to always block where you want to look and I always find myself bobbing back and forward to see what's to my right. Parts are also very expensive unless you'll settle for second hand.

Overall a very good buy.

Love my 1.8 16V RT sport...even having just spent 250 quid on a pair of new coil packs. Out dragged my friends Audi A4 1.8TD, also quicker than my old 2.0 litre petrol A4, and Mk4 Golf TDi. Handling sharp, acceleration good for size unless carrying any passengers. Haven't had any of the electrical bugs everyone tells me about; perhaps I've just jinxed myself. Love spanking Vectra's and Mondeo's etc at lights. Anyone got any recommendations for an induction kit?

Totally agree, front pillars are high up the nuisance list. I'll soon be on by 3rd 2.0 16v Laguna hatchback with sports option (well worth the extra), very comfortable and once debugged are reliable. Lots of spare grunt even in 5th. Just driven a 1.8 TDCi turbo for a day, knocks spots off the 2.0 petrol, well worth a look at!!

Rocket.

my dad has 1.8 16V Sport. It goes like the wind compared to most cars of its size ie vectra etc. He always beats people at traffic lights, apart from that BMW M3 V12. Were getting the new Hyundai Coupe 2.0 16v, now that really goes.

Renault have done a pretty good job of Laguna range.

Considering that the engine is only 1.8L it is producing maximum power for the size of the engine.

OK, the Renault Laguna might not be blisteringly fast but it's better than half a star, surely!? To be fair Renault have lovely engines and I think you should show some more respect.
