I spoke with Sky today and she was very good and communicated well. She explained all that was necessary and I understood everything involved. She took time to make sure I understood what was involved. The prices she gave me were very good.

The title says it - very clear and helpful customer service. The team member knew I had little time to spare and was still able to comprehensively cover all the points involved.

“Total Incompetence from Extra Energy”

★☆☆☆☆

written by ColinMcL on 15/03/2017

We moved into our new house in February 2015. I emailed and telephoned our details and meter readings to Extra Energy and got an automated response to the email. A couple of weeks passed and I phoned again to ask for a final bill. I was told one would be in the post shortly. Over 18 months passed and a Final Red letter arrived from them addressed to the previous owner of the house. I passed this on to them and they contacted Extra Energy to have the bill split for energy we had used after moving in. Months passed then I received a couple of bills for Extra Energy. It is against the "Industry Code of Practice" for an energy company to send out bills if you have asked for the bill and supplied meter readings and it takes them more that 12 months to issue the bill. I contacted the Energy Ombudsman who took on my case. Their final decision was that the bills were to be written off, a letter of apology was to be issued and compensation was to be paid to me. They failed to pay the compensation so I went back to the ombudsman, Extra Energy then had to pay the due compensation plus a good will gesture. You would then think that would be the end of it. How wrong was I... Extra Energy in their infinite wisdom decided to pass the bills that were written off to a debt collection agency who threatened me with legal action if I didn't pay the bills in full. I have since contacted Extra Energy and asked that someone in upper management to contact me to apologise, I gave them a window of 2 weeks to respond, but actually over 4 weeks has now elapsed and I have heard nothing. I did inform them that the consequence of not responding would result in negative reviews being left for them and contacting the media. The good British public need to know about the incompetence of this companies so called "customer service" and management. They sell themselves with good tariffs, but my advice is pay a little extra and stay well clear of this company, you just need to look at the bad press and number of negative reviews they receive. Here is another to add to their collection!!!

“Knocked on my door, offered me savings, ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Laineyag on 31/10/2016

Absolute waste of my time, knocked on my door, said they could save me money, eventually agreed to change suppliers, my biggest mistake, I am with British gas, I get money back for having both gas and electricity, but the new company only acknowledge the electricity never the gas, there is no difference and I have lost my money back, I am on a very low income, thanks uswitch for nothing, don't knock my door again please, waste of time and space

“Figures Given By uSwitch Are Misleading And Incorrect!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by kel-vin on 30/08/2016

Have used u-Switch before without problems but as my current deal for gas and electricity was coming to an end I used u-switch to compare the market and the best option (or so I thought) was with Scottish Power where I was informed I could save over £200 per year.

I went ahead with this but when I received confirmation and a start date from Scottish Power, their projections for the coming year were totally different from the figures quoted from u-Switch.Unit rates/Estimated Annual costs/Tariff comparison rates and everything else were all more than u-Switch had quoted me.

On ringing Scottish Power I was told that I would have to pay an extra £7 per month to cover my annual cost on this deal (£5 MORE per month than my current deal!).

They said the costings used by u-Switch were for customers in the Midlands supply area only, (I live in the Southwest) but surely u-Switch were aware of this as they had used my postcode to generate their comparisons.

Can't get through on the phone to u-Switch as yet but I will! Will have to cancel this deal and try somewhere else.

Needless to say due to to the above I will not use u-Switch again!

“Painless process to shift utility, but no changes in cost ”

★★☆☆☆

written by gbanerg on 21/03/2016

I moved from my incumbent to a new utility provider when Uswitch showed that they were ~35% cheaper than my current deal. While the move was completely painless, I was shocked to receive by my new provider (EON) an email (even before my first payment) saying that they need to increase my direct debit by 50%. Given it was before the 1st month makes be think that the lower rate initially was a gimmick to switch and now I am stuck for 12 months with a higher rate.

“No comparison without your phone number”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 14/01/2016

For security reasons I do not normally advertise my phone number. When I called uSwitch for a comparison I was told that unless I provided my phone number I would not be given a quote. That's almost rogue traderish. I haven't entered any deal or contract so why is it so importangt that they have my phone number ?

“Uswitch lied to me”

★☆☆☆☆

written by connestan on 31/03/2015

I called for a quote and I was lied to after I said I would check other comparison sites. They said that Uswitch website was the same as every other comparison site and I wouldn't get a better deal so I went ahead with Uswitch. BUT cancelled when I called another comparison site and got a better deal.

“Nothing but hassle and stress”

★☆☆☆☆

written by MaryjaneMcWilliams on 11/02/2015

USwitch is only interested in their commission. My experience was a disaster. I ended up being billed twice by BOTH energy companies. USwitch never handled the switch correctly as promised. They were useless. No start date, no last meter reading, in fact no switch until I chased it up 11 times.

“Fees now due to U Switch failure”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Danny1012 on 08/02/2015

having used the site to find the best comparative deal i chose one which boated it would save me over £300 per year. i duly entered my information and was sent confirmation of the switch and followed the advice to cancel my direct debit with my current supplier as everything was in hand. to date U Switch has not contacted me nor has my new supplier been made aware that I am supposed to be a customer. i e mailed customer services at U Switch and , nothing. one energy supplier has been in contact. My energy supplier who has not been informed that I had switched away from and so am still in contract with and have now run up a debt with them. I have never been in debt with any energy supplier and so thanks to U switch another first. best advice is call any supplier and do the work yourself. U Switch is about getting advertising revenue not getting a better deal for the consumer.

“Recommended Isupplyengergy.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by KayaMcClellan on 16/01/2015

Uswitch recommended I switch over to Isupply energy, over a year ago worst move ever. To top it all they owe me over £133; admit they owe me it, this was pre-Christmas despite many calls still waiting. Never use either again.

“Absolute Rubbish”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 14/01/2015

Cancelled a switch request on line but still received an e mail saying my details had been passed to a new supplier, phoned u choose and was told yes the details had been sent and that I couldn't have cancelled on line and they were unable to cancel by phone, only way to cancel was to phone the supplier, I did this and was kept waiting on hold for 25 mins only to be told when I finally got through that the switch had already been cancelled. Worst customer relation dept I have ever encountered.

“Be careful....”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Mirai93 on 09/07/2014

Used U-Switch to change from EDF to Scottish Eletric. Their comparisons indicated SE were much better value (we shall see...), so I used them for the switch-over. Unfortunately SE it appears are utterly incompetent, incapable of taking 3 simple readings correctly. Their CS is abysmal, even going as far as to hang up on me after making me wait an well over an hour for their callback!! As such I would urge caution when using U-Switch: Though the deal's might look better (and I am growing increasingly wary that SE's estimated savings may well be a good deal off in the long run) check out the rep of the company making that offer first. Next time I look to change, which will be sooner rather than later as I have no great desire to stay with Scottish Electric for very long after being hung up on, I will be a good deal more cautious.

“Energy suppliers”

★☆☆☆☆

written by MaryjaneWheeler39 on 29/06/2014

On your recommendation I recently switched to First Utility for energy supply. Unfortunately , I gave them an incorrect reading for my Gas Meter. I immediately realised what I had done and tried to rectify it. This has proved to be one of the worst experiences of my life and I promise that in future I shall not have any dealings with either U switch or First utility. Before you recommend any company you should acquaint yourselves with its capabilities and think of the damage it can inflict on you.First utility has no infrastructure at all

Is there a cheaper 'pay-as-you-go' provider than PrePayPower? I find them very expensive, plus as I have a contract with them, would I have to pay for the remainder of the contract? Do Electric Ireland have a similar pre-pay system? Many thanks for any information.
