Better Than Avp
I'm a massive fan of the original Predator movies. The first is a reall classic and has a cult following for a very good reason. The second is extremely watchable.
Now after some disappointing Predator movies in the shape of two terrible Alien vs Predator films its nice to get them back on their own and doing what they do best, hunting!
This films takes place on a mysterious plant where a group of individuals with extremely varying past are all placed as game for a group of Predators to hunt and kill. The group all have one thing in common, they are all loners, murders, soldiers and in some way killers themselves.
Now in true original style its not long before they are being picked off one by one until the we get to our inevitable conclusion. Man vs Alien killer will never get old :)
All in all not as good as it might have been but at the same time well worth a watch for any action junkie!
1987's Predator Was A Classic Action Film With Ple
1987's Predator was a classic action film with plenty of quotable lines and moments and one film that I have watched over and over and never bore of. The follow up with Danny Glover was different and lacked the believability of the first (Come on, Glover an action man? He looked out a breath for most of the film) but still had some memorable moments and still packed a great predator. When I first heard they were going to be making a new film to try and reboot the series I was worried and excited. I had high hopes that they could give it a good Batman style injection of thrills and action. Then I saw the cast list...Adrien Brody? Adrien Brody as the action lead. I know that some people try their damnedest not to be type cast but still. The opening scene is Adrien Brody falling through the sky with a parachute. He comes to and realises he's in trouble. After some minutes of desperately trying to open the chute it finally does but he lands with a thud into a jungle closely followed by several others. I tried not to dislike Brody but I was hoping he would die and give us a Psycho style shock at the beginning.
The first 30 minutes of the film introduce us to characters who are pastiches of the original cast complete with an actor who generally plays cretins (you'll know the one when you see him) and several key moments are played out in a similar vein to the first film like the predator mimicking the unsuspecting fools. There are some good moments when Lawrence Fishburne is introduced but he is under used and exits way too easily for my liking. Brody to be fair isn't that bad as the lead but you get the feeling they would have liked a Vim Diesel or Jason Statham for the role. They introduce a new stronger predator which mocks the previous ones as inferior which doesn't make any sense and tbh they look sucky and don't get me started on the ending which leaves it totally open for possible sequels. Please just leave it alone now. You've done a Terminator 3 on it don't subject us to a whole string of worthless nods to the original film. Worth a see for some interesting deaths, just ignore the bad taste joke they decided to include and the "twist" of one of the characters that was set up so early I was bored of waiting for it to appear.
Many people say they are not afraid of any thing but a lonely walk through woods can be a scary experience for every one. The fact that woods are so lonely and stories of evil spirits at work really get us scared even thought woods are safe.
