Lillyflowers's review of Arcade Fire, The Neon Bible

“I feel this album was well worth my listen, Arcade...”

Written on: 04/06/2007 by Lillyflowers (1 review written)

Good Points
This album is definitley worth a decent listening to, whether you choose to disagree or not this is great come back from Arcade Fire. Lyrics are influenced by societies fears and the happenings of the new century, including Black mirror which is written about the devastations of September 11th. The church vibe although at the beginning seems silly really does work and solidifies Arcade Fire as a respectively unique band.

Bad Points
Obviously not as outstanding as the debut self titled album, it lacks imagination in places and just makes noise for the sake of it, ie My Body Is A Cage. The album seems to run straight through but certain songs seem boring and lifeless. Ruining the excellent songs that do make the album. The decision to change the song No Cars go from the original EP version I think was completely unnecessary and has ruined the impact of the song.

General Comments
I feel this album was well worth my listen, Arcade Fire are one of the bands which we should look up to and find inspiration from as there needs to be more bands thinking on the same wave length. High points of this album include listening to Ocean of Noise and Black Mirror. Defintely worth recommending and deserves its hype.
