mine canary's review of Shop Goodwill -

“Shopgoodwill is an online thrift store, auction style,...”

Good Points
Proceeds from Good Will benefits charity, huge array of things offered from various U.S. location, all available online. The site is pretty easy to use, photos of goods often have multiple views available, and potential buyers can ask questions or request additional information via email to seller. Goods are shipped in a timely manner.

Bad Points
Shipping and handling charges can be high, although some items can be combined for shipping. Shipping and handling is substantially more than cost. Numerous times I have received things that were not really as described, for example, described as in good condition when the actual condition was less than good. A couple of times I received damaged goods because items were not well packed, even though shipping charges are high. When that happens, the seller will not refund shipping & handling, only purchase price, and buyer has to pay again for return shipping.

General Comments
Shopgoodwill is an online thrift store, auction style, that markets goods donated to charity from around the U.S. They have a little of everything available, and lots of nice things. They're pretty good to do business with, and the information they provide about items up for auction is usually pretty true, not exaggerated. Buyers have the pleasure of knowing that sales revenue is put toward social good. It can be difficult to work out problems, when they arise, with sales transaction. Response time is a bit slow at times, and buyers end up loosing money on returns because shipping and handling are not refunded, even if seller is at fault. I like this store anyway.

"How long have you been working for" It's obvious that your aware that out of about 80 of their online stores maybe half have any integrity left. Greed...The Mission... hit the skids after the 1st TEN MILLION was made. Yet you give them the benefit of the doubt when you know they are committing fraud. Yes FRAUD. They are supposed to be a non-profit. If an item weighs 6 ounces they charge you for 2,3 pounds. When you catch them because they don't pay the shipper those high fees, they refuse to refund the overcharges. That is illegal for a NON PROFIT. I hope they lose all the perks of their NON PROFIT status. I have bought probably over 100 items. Their biggest problem is that they allow each store to set their own shipping rates/terms (that they abuse by overcharging more than their actually paying with their discounts) I hope some Lawyer picks up on this because I am positive their malfeasance and fraud & worse will result in a class action lawsuit that will forever ruin Goodwills name. Bottom line if you are a non-profit running a huge auction site that allows individuals to dictate rules and costs it won't be long before you can kiss goodbye your non profit status. Otherwise who wouldn't do it? Sell items that you get for nothing, pay less taxes than regular businesses and overcharge your customers on shipping. Recipe for disaster. Sign me up for the class action lawsuit!
