Good Points
Sound quality is clear and crisp.
Ample bass.
Good response.
Aesthetically pleasing design.
Cheap price.

Bad Points
Hollow noise around earcup.
"Shoddy" workmanship.
Conductive wiring amplifies environment noise.
High repair costs.

General Comments
The Sony MDR-V700 headphones are NOT meant for DJ's. They are strictly for home casual use ONLY.

The hollow noise around earcup is due to cheap materials and insulation. This means that touching the earcup, or knocking it in any way will amplify that noise into the earphone.

The swivel joint will crack and snap off, even with only casual use eventually, GUARANTEED. Simply due a search on the internet and this fact will be echoed by thousands of consumers who purchased these headphones (myself included). It will cost 45 US Dollars to have the headband replaced (they will not replace just the swivel), NOT including shipping. So you are going to pay almost the retail price of these things just to get them fixed.

That being said, they have crystal clear sound quality, and they are definitely worth buying, if you get them cheap enough that you won't be bitter when them breaking in 6 months. I got them new on Ebay for a very reasonable price. Let's just say the price was so reasonable that they broke after 6 months and I feel confident I got my moneys worth out of them. Just be careful with them, and they might last you as long as they did me.

Hah mate, looks like you got fake ones. Just Google 'fake MDR-V700' and see what you get.

Not made for DJ's? Armin Van Buuren (top rated DJ in the known universe) uses these. I'd beg to differ.

I agree with the comment below. Care needs to be taken with regards to real and fake versions especially when using e-bay. Based on your observations it sounds like the product you have is a long way removed from the real thing, and the fact they broke after only 6 months pretty much confirms it. I own a real pair and they display none of the characteristics you mention here.
