★★★☆☆

Good Points
Some genuinely funny momemts.

Bad Points
Seemed to run out of steam a little, difficult for these two characters to fill a half-hour slot.

General Comments
Peter Kay's spin-off series about the two lads who worked the door at the Phoenix was eagerly anticipated as his previous show aired on Channel 4 (Phoenix Nights) was a huge success. This is funny and is suitable for the whole family to enjoy, the two characters do struggle to keep us chuckling for the full half hour though. I would still recommend this show but it's not a patch on Phoenix Nights. You'll be pleased to know that Kay doesn't sing that Amarillo song but there is an annoying theme tune to be wary of.

Max & Paddy's Road to Nowhere is very funny and well written, although not as good as Phoenix Nights. I particularly like the episode where they meet Billy 'the butcher' Shannon.
