Good Points
This foundation has no faults. It goes on to give a flawless finish.
Bad Points
A bit messy to apply at first.
General Comments
This foundation is brilliant. I know all the other reviews are raving about it, so I thought I would buy some samples. For 99p, if it wasn't as good as everyone made out, then I hadn't wasted a fortune.
Anyway, I got it the day after I ordered it (along with the finishing powder). The first time I applied it I looked really caked-up with make-up, so I took it off and had another go. My problem is that I have quite bad skin, so I am used to applying lots of foundation to hide it. Hence the cakey look. It is true when other reviews say that less is more with this product. I tapped the handle of the brush on the worktop to work the powder into the brush and LIGHTLY applied it. It looked great, and it was even better when I applied the translucent finishing powder. I did find however that their concealer was not great, so I used my normal Dermablend concealer first, then I applied the mineral foundation over the top. I have never been able to get the 'naked' look with make-up, but this makes it possible. I have also ordered the eye shadows - quite a few. They are lovely, and you can mix them with clear lip gloss to make a nice lip colour. However, check their website first, as not all of them can be used. You can use blusher and eye colour etc for this, but as I said - it's best to check first.
This foundation really does stay put too. I normally have to touch-up my make up at lunch, but this stuff lasts all day. I don't need to re-apply it for a night out either. I would say though, that if I am going out, I would put another light dusting of finishing powder on to remove any shine, although there isn't much, and that's amazing for someone with oily skin.
I do not find that this product dries out my skin, nor does it make it oily. I would recommend moisturising first though, as I have dry skin on my cheekbones only, and the mineral foundation powder can emphasise it. I find Simple's rich moisturiser is fab.
Also, I have REALLY, REALLY pale skin, and I have never had a foundation the right colour. I usually have to dust over most foundations with white powder to bring down the colour to my natural skin tone, but Lily Lolo do lovely shades, and there is a HUGE selection. For once, a shade that matches. Not only that, but you can mix the powders to create your own shade.
I would recommend the sample pots to start with. I bought just 1 sample, and I am still using it after 2 weeks. I am not even a quarter of the way down it yet, so the large pots should last forever! And they are nowhere near as expensive as other brands.
Thank you Lily Lolo for giving me a foundation that matches my skin tone, doesn't dry it out or make it greasy, and for once a promise that is kept by a make-up manufacturer - it does stay put for hours on end!!
I will NEVER EVER EVER go back to liquid again.
Try it! You will not regret it!

Just one more comment... If you have bad skin then Lily Lolo Mineral Cosmetics Mineral Foundation is brilliant (as I said, I would recommend using your own concealer). The main reason is that due to the minerals in it, there are lots of healing properties, so any spots or imperfections heal much quicker. I have the odd scar from bad spots, and they are getting much paler with the use of this foundation. Obviously, they still take time to fade, but over 3 weeks I have noticed a difference.

Hi,
Thanks for getting back to me with all your comments and sample info; very helpful. I will take you up on your offer of a sample of the Dermablend. I will post my email address on the forum where you left a message, as I can't leave my email address here. I think I will order some more of the Lily Lolo mineral foundations this weekend and give it another go. I agree with you about their blushers. I ordered one of those and found them way too shimmery. I don't usually wear eye shadow, so I don't think I will bother with those.

Once again thanks for all your help and the sample offer.

Just to let you know the other eye shadow colours I have tried:

Khaki sparkle - very nice swampy green - quite sparkly and goes on dark.
Mystery - bit of sparkle, but more like a dull mud colour.
Sticky toffee - a sort of strawberry blonde colour with sparkle - quite subtle.
Cream soda - matte cream colour - cannot tell you have any eye shadow on - pointless unless you have dark skin.
Angelic - just sheer sparkly glitter - great if you mix a VERY SMALL amount with clear lipgloss.

Hi - I didn't like the Dermablend concealers, but I use their Leg and Body Cover Crème in Ivory. It might not be the correct colour for you, but if you wish I could send you a sample (they don't do samples, and you have to buy a full size one). I apply it to the back of my hand and then put a very small amount on a concealer brush and apply it to the scars/spots on my face. It is very thick however, so I do suggest that you use a little and build up, because if you use a lot it dries fast and then you have to wash it off and start again. If you are anything like me and maybe have bad skin, then you are probably used to applying make-up quite thick. I used to do that with my liquid foundation, and it was REALLY hard to use a little bit of the mineral foundation. It was having to change a 7 year long habit, and that was difficult. I definitely think that their finishing powders are worth buying - they make a difference to the staying power.

The mineral foundation sample I bought was porcelain (try tapping a small amount of powder from the sample pot into the lid, then use a face brush to lightly dab it it the powder in the lid. Then tip the brush so the bristles are facing up and tap the base of the brush on a table so the powder works its way into the brush. if you need more build up like that). I got the flawless matte finishing powder. I didn't like their blushers though - they were too shimmery - they made me look sweaty, so I'm sticking with my No7 Soft Damson for now. I bought quite a few eye shadow samples. I love the khaki sparkle - but it is VERY shimmery, so I have to apply it very lightly and build up (again - I put it on too thick 1st time). The angelic eye shadow was just like applying white/silver glitter to my eyes, so I'm saving the sample for a 60's night if one ever crops up. I found 'mystery' a bit dull, and I cannot remember the others I bought. I will check when I get home and add another comment for you. I haven't tried mixing samples because the porcelain foundation sample was the right colour, so I didn't need to order any more. If you want me to send you a sample of the Dermablend then leave a comment and your email address in the beauty forums here on Review centre, and I will contact you to get your postal address and pop some in the post for you. My tube is lasting ages anyway. Feel free to contact me with any other questions.

I would say however, don't expect to look quite as perfect as the model on Lily Lolo's website - I think there has been a bit of airbrushing going on there somehow!

Hi,
Thanks for your comments on the fact that I was probably applying the Lily Lolo Mineral Cosmetics Mineral foundation too heavily. I am tempted to order some more samples and have another go (my daughter took what I had left of the other). You mentioned that you use Dermablend to cover your scars etc. Do you mind me asking what colour you use? I used Dermablend a while ago, but I didn't like it very much, A it seemed a little too pink. maybe I bought the wrong colour? Also, what colour samples did you order for your Lily Lolo? Have you tried mixing any? Sorry for all the questions. You don't have to reply if you don't want to, but if you do thanks for your time and understanding.
