Sent 10 boxes from London to Madrid with cheapest service, which, if run smoothly, is good value. Booking was misleading though, they asked my for a contact telephone number for the receiver, so I was lulled into believing that they would call just before the delivery. Wrong! The service did not include phone calls or any type of warning (why ask for a number then?!). The actual courier was DHL.

Boxes collected on Monday. I call on a Friday to try and understand what has happened. Remember Interparcel says generally between 2 and 5 working days (the key is in that 'generally'). Boxes arrived late in Madrid, and they are going to be delivered next Monday, 100%. OK, no problem: arrange for a person to stay at the flat the whole day (no time range is promised). On Monday night boxes not there, call again. They don't know what happened. I get the Spanish reference number and call DHL Spain. My wife is Spanish, so no problems of misunderstanding are possible. Some Spanish call center workers are really helpful, contrary to British ones, who just take shield after their procedures, but can do nothing other than to send notes to the people working in the warehouse. Our call was cut a couple of time, with excuses. Somehow arrange for a delivery on Tuesday, which never happened. We are also told that deliveries were attempted. In the meanwhile, we discover that each box was sent with a different reference number. The story repeated itself on Wednesday, by which time I had the same person in the flat for THREE CONSECUTIVE DAYS.

We are told that the service we chose is mainly for companies who have a place open during working hours, and can wait basically as long as it takes. Nothing of this was explained in the Interparcel booking web page.

With some luck, the person in the flat knows someone who knows someone etc. working in the DHL warehouse. Delivery is reorganised for Thursday morning (9 working days from collection) and I get 9 boxes.

Moral: I'll leave it to you.

I am off now, I need to dig out what happened to my tenth box ...
