Extremely poor customer service, and complete inability to sort out the simplest of problems.
General Comments
I paid my gas bill in July, but returned from holiday in August to find not only a reminder, but also a letter threatening me with legal action. I called to tell British Gas that the bill had been paid the month before, so they just told me to ignore the letters. The next week, I got a letter saying they were coming to cut my gas off! I was in such a panic, I paid it again (with a view to sorting out the missing payment later), but to my astonishment they then lost this second payment! To date, I have sent them copies of my bank statements and letters from my bank confirming that this bill has been paid to them TWICE, but I've yet to get a refund of either payment! I have sent countless letters, and even got Energywatch involved, but to no avail. Each time I get a reply from them, it is from a different person, who seems to know nothing about my previous correspondence, and I have to start explaining the whole thing again.

I agreed in my review that British Gas staff never seem to take ownership of a problem. Every time I called, it was always a different person and I had to start the same story over and over again. I think they need some serious investment in customer service training and a new Computer system. I wholeheartedly agree with your review.
