General Comments
Sadly Wetherspoons is the stain on the underwear of Manchester nightlife. I'm no Einstein but a simple equation tells you that Cheap Grog + Nutcases = Violence. Sadly Wetherpoons is full of unpleasants and not so sadly cheap grog, therefore it is inevitable trouble can rear it's ugly head. With no music on either these places really don't have much going for it apart from cheap booze. This comes at a price though, it makes Wetherspoons the focal point for society's lowest common denominator - yep you guessed it - The Alcoholic. Like a fly attracted to dog droppings 'The Alky' will always be found in 'Spoons'. The Picadilly venue is a hole and this is a clear example of this. The Paramout branch is an offender on a lesser scale. It's a shame really because with a music lisence and a stricter vetting policy on vagrants, these pubs could be greatly improved.

Hi Daddy,
My god, that sounds about the same as the Bell Hotel in Norwich, which is also a Wetherspoons. Your suggested equation of cheap grog + nutcases = violence fits just right for the Bell Hotel!

Not being able to get served is one of The Daddy's pet hates at bar.

The Chris Moyles thing has kicked-up a bit of a stink - the Norwich Evening News took great offence and have fought back.

If you type Chris Moyles into Google News you can read all about it!

I actually like the pedestrianisation in Norwich. It makes walking round the city centre much safer, but it was rather funny when you mentioned about the Chris Moyles remark; I never knew about that, as I do not listen to radio 1. I originally come from Cornwall! The Wetherspoons pub that myself and my husband frequently go to is in fact a Lloyd's bar, which a)has music and b)has quite a nice decor, but I hate going there when the football is on, because it just gets too busy and you cannot get served.

Believe me it's not somewhere I'd take the wife!!!

Some Wetherspoon pubs hit the spot but this one is a disaster zone - I prefer the Lloyds bars - basically a slightly more expensive Wetherspoons with the bonus of music, nicer decor and better locations.

I see you drink in Norwich - I hear The Norwich Massive aren't happy with some recent comments from Radio One DJ Chris Moyles - he said there's more atmosphere on the moon than in Norwich! Where do you stand on this issue?

Also, what do you think about the pedestrianization of Norwich City Centre???
