“This was our first visit to Egypt, and it most...”

This was our first visit to Egypt, and it most certainly won't be our last. By the way, the Grand Resort Hotel in Hurghada has bedrooms which are just like the photo in the brochure.

The hotel was very very good. The rooms were more than adequate and very clean, and they were cleaned every day. They also come back later in the evening to do a second service. You even get a complimentary bag which is in your room on arrival, and it is to cart your towels around so you don't need to take any towels, but be warned, if you mis-lay the bag or towels you will be charged, but there is a notice in the rooms.

The hotel staff were friendly and most helpful.

The food was great, especially their bread; it is just so tasty, and we found there was always something for everyone. The breakfasts are great with lots of English food available, good evening meals with lots to choose from, plus deserts to die for. No sense worrying about the inches ladies, you're on holiday.

The beach was across the road, so the hotel isn't directly on the beach, you have to walk over the road (traffic wardens stop the traffic for you automatically) and through the Grand Hotel to reach it, and there are loads of free sunbeds and parasols if you want to chill-out for your holiday. It's very clean with water slides for the kids, which are also free. The beach is nice, and we always found a spot, but the only downside to this beach is the snorkeling is non-existent because the fish are protected species, but there are good snorkeling trips available.

Excursions are a lot cheaper outside the hotel, and you will save yourself a bit of money, but we have always booked ours through the holiday reps, as you're more covered if things go wrong.

Take English money with you and change it there, as the exchange rate is much better, but have some small change with you for tipping, as this is a way of life in Egypt, until you can change money to Egyptian Pounds.

The hotel is on the main "strip" and there are loads of shops and restaurants. If you don't mind being hassled to look in the shops all the way down the road then the prices are really cheap. We found if you were polite and said "No Thanks" and kept walking (don't stop) you were all right!

In summary, all in all it was very good value for money. We actually came back with money! We will definitely be returning.
