General Comments
I fitted the Pirelli Diablo on my speed triple and was amazed at how well they handled. The rear tire is really far more pointed than for instance bridgestones BT-12 or Pilot Power, which translates into razor sharp handling, but sacrifices the feel somewhat at high speed on the straight sections. I can't say much about tyre-life since I partially used the first pair I fitted on a long journey to the south of France with a pillion and luggage. With this configuration I couldn't really say they lasted long - I did around 1.300 km solo and around 1.500 km fully loaded and my rear was completely shot. I now have another Diablo fitted on the rear and so far I did around 2.000 km with them and have around 2/3 of the profile left. In comparison the battlax BT-012 lasted around 5.000km.
The price could also be an issue for some since you could get a decent pair of tyres for the price of the rear (list price for the regular Diablo rear - 190/50/17 - is 294 EUR).
