Funchal, Quinta Bela Sao Tiago

Having stayed at this hotel with my husband in February on half board basis, I was slightly disappointed with some of the features/arrangements of this four star hotel. The best feature is without any doubt its location. However, our room looked a bit tired, a door of the wardrobe could not be closed and was hanging down, it seems the wooden rail on the balcony hasn't seen a lick of paint for years. Pool was cold, Jacuzzi was just warm but in a dark place in the basement. While breakfast with lots of choice was acceptable, the dinner was to my mind, not up to scratch. A menu showing only one choice!!!! If you did not like a part of it there was no substitute placed on the plate. Entertainment was dreadful, a singer with a keyboard who had a very bad voice. Cannot fault the staff as they were really trying to help but when you pay a considerable amount for your holiday it can be rather upsetting when you are unable to use all facilities or when meals are inadequate. Come on Hotel Qunita Bela San Tiago, give your guests value for money. On this basis, I would not recommend this hotel.
