Good Points
It's chocolate
Bad Points
It's grainy, barely milky and tastes of sick
General Comments
Hershey's milk chocolate is the chocolate on which all Americans grow up. As such, one grows to love it and to treasure it. Until, of course, one leaves the country for Europe and actually tries decent milk chocolate. Then one realises that it is vile nasty stuff which doesn't taste like a properly creamy milk chocolate. It's gritty, too sweet and has a vague taste of sick.
Now, when I return home, I cannot eat Hersheys and either have to pay ridiculous amounts for Cadburys or search high and low to find Nestle milk chocolate.
If you are American and you think Hershey's makes edible milk chocolate, I challenge you to try some European chocolate and then see if you can force yourself to eat this nasty stuff ever again!

Greetings MindyG. Ummmm....I don't know what to say about your description of the taste of Hershey's chocolate but I take your point!

Regarding Cadbury's and Nestle's chocolate - the EC (European Community) AKA The Common Market or more simply, Brussels - decreed that "British" chocolate has too much milk and not enough cocoa solids in it and should not be called "chocolate" but something else I can't remember.

Personally, I like the Continental dark chocolate which does have their required quota of cocoa solids which I find has a beautiful tangy slightly bitter taste.

At the end of the day, it IS all down to taste.

Hi Bertie :). I have to agree about the continental dark chocolate. It is lovely stuff.
I think the moral to this story is: Avoid American chocolate...at all costs!
