General Comments
Right here goes,

i bought two of these O2 X1 mobile phones one for my sons 18th birthday in dec 03 and one for my daughters 16 birthday in jan 04.

They both were adamant it had to be this phone as it was the in thing at that time, as a consequence of that there was a waiting list stretching back months, my wife and i searched everywhere for them always worrying that if we managed to get only one the loser would be very upset to say the least.

we only managed to get the second phone on the day of my daughters birthday, but hey! all was well with the world.

That was until my sons phone started playing up after 3 days, phone freezing up, screen going blank, calls not getting through, phone not turning off,

i of course blamed him for breaking it while showing off to his mates, i have since eaten large slices of humble pie.

He persevered with it for 2 more weeks until my daughters phone started playing up much the same as his, that was enough for me back to the shop they went, not to worry said my local phone salesman its a known problem they were a faulty batch you will be given 2 new phones in about a week, problem sorted i said faulty batch and all that, one of those things, but at least there was no hassle getting them replaced,

except for the fact that they had to take the sim cards as well so my kids lost all their contacts, text messages, ring tones that they had paid to download and of course their photos as well.

Put like that it does seem a bit of a hassle.

1 week later the new phones arrived all is well i thought, no such luck within days the same problems were stsrting to reappear all be it with less regularity but as time wore on they got more regular to the stage were my son said "i dont care i am not losing all my info again" i will just have to live with it,

but he couldnt do it the damm thing just seemed to say i will keep getting worse and worse until you get rid of me, which in the end we did back they both went, and we were told this time by the sales assistant that he was not sure what the problem was i enquired if we were still recieving phones from the faulty batch. he looked at me as if this was a revelation to him and i had to point out that he had put forward this as the reason for them being defective in the first place, this seemed to jog his memory and he went into auto pilot assuring us all the faulty batch of phones had been recalled and we were not to worry about that being the reason for them not working,

i said ok then i wont worry any longer about what is not making them break down but how about i worry about what is actually making them break down, i will be able to tell you that when they come back he said.

To which i replied they wont be coming back i want two new phones. he didnt even argue, that should have told me everything i sit here now and wonder how in the name of god can o2 be making money on this phone if they have to replace them this many times.

Needless to say the kids lost all their info again even though i enquired as to was it absolutely neccessary to take the sim cards and was assured that 02 would consider it a breach of the guarantee if they were not returned.

Almost 2 weeks later the new phones arrived and started to play up within a week by this stage we were all getting a tad angry with 02 my wife was upset because she was the one who was facing the salesman on a daily basis enquiring if the phones had arrived yet and then she was back complaining within days because they had broken down again. The kids were upset because they had no phone and i was mad because dads get mad at stuff like that dont they ? £180.00 a pop for these bags of rubbish which had been with 02 more than with us and all the agro in between,

my sons still trying to stick it out with his 3rd phone which is slowly going the way of its predecessors,

but my daughters new phone arrived today 10/05/04 after two weeks wait "no more than four days sir" was what we were told.

and guess what after i refused to give my daughters sim card over they sent the phone off anyway so that breach of guarrantee thing was a load of old tosh,

but within 10 minutes of opening it she came in to say i cant delete my messages dad when i press options it goes straight to calling the person whose message i am trying to delete, well dont delete them i said trying to be clever, i have to she said i only get ten messages and then the thing is full up so i have to delete them to recieve any new messages.

Can you believe it only ten messages what genius thought that would be a selling point then ?.

I then lost my rag and phoned 02 helpline to be told it sounds like a handset problem sir not a sim card problem you need to speak to the O2X1 helpline have you got their number i asked, yes he replied and proceeded to give me the number i repeated the quoted number back to him and he confirmed it was correct, but then said let me just check that for you again and returned to say yes sir that is the right number.

it wasn't.

It was a dead line, i managed to find the number on this forum and when i rang it the recorded message told me the number had changed again this is 02 for gods sake!!!!.

Oh and to top it all they finish at 5pm just when i get home from work.

But their may be a light at the end of the tunnel i see that there is a chance that if the phone croaks it three times i might be entitled to an upgrade, well we qualify for that so i will let you know what happens.
