Great Suction, But Some Major Flaws

Make no mistake - this vacuum cleaner has great suction and beats your carpets brilliantly making them look like new. However, it is very heavy and vacuuming the whole house is a serious work-out.

There are no connectors on the hose so it quite often comes away from where it attaches to the base.

There also doesn't seem to be any way to remove the hose from the machine to be able to unblock it, should the inevitable sock get sucked up in the children's room. (Although, to be fair, I haven't checked the manual - maybe there is a way)

I have had my Vax Turboforce Extra for over 5 years and it is still going strong. I have replaced the beater belt once which was very straightforward, as was changing the filter. Parts are readily available.

All in all - you get what you pay for. The design could be better, but it sucks really well (even after 5 years+ !)

The Vax Turboforce Extra 1850 Seems A Bit Heavy So

The Vax Turboforce Extra 1850 seems a bit heavy so difficult to manouevre. Hose also appears too short to do a flight of stairs without moving the cleaner up with you. Once you have the cylinder out it takes me several attempts to get it back in place.

I Believe The Vax Turboforce Extra 1850 Is A Good

I believe the Vax Turboforce Extra 1850 is a good value for money and overall does a good job in a home with a pet. I can forget the minor bad points, as the pick up of this vacuum cleaner is great.

I Have Had This Vax Turboforce Extra 1850 For Abou

I have had this Vax Turboforce Extra 1850 for about 6 months now and recently realised that I'm hardly ever vacuuming as it is such a chore. Difficult to manoeuvre when not switched on. Cord winding is a chore as the gap between the retaining lugs is so short. You have to stand the machine straight up and then bend down to change from carpet to flat floor. As for the emptying! You get filthy as you have to keep knocking the dirt and dust from the large central filter every time you empty the thing.

Yesterday I decided that I needed another Dyson instead, so I bought the DC14 Allfloors. After the Vax it is absolute bliss!

Next time I would rather spend the money on a second hand repaired and trusted British made item.

The 'review Ratings' Miss One Serious Point - Effe

The 'Review Ratings' miss one serious point - EFFECTIVENESS - this is main reason why I bought this machine. Having two mucky & moulting Labradors has overwhelmed every other make or type of vacuum cleaner - however at £120 from B&Q the Vax Turboforce is relatively inexpensive and very effective.

This isn't a machine for those who just want a quick dust round a nice clean home, a bit too industrial for that - however if you are a pet-owner and need to do some serious carpet work then look no further!

a machine which because of it's size is a bit cumbersome, but as previously stated for anyone who owns a pet ,especially a big heavy lab it represents good value for money and does a good job.

In The Shop The Vax Turboforce Extra 1850 Vacuum C

In the shop the Vax Turboforce Extra 1850 vacuum cleaner was demonstrated on a very short piled carpet, and on the lowest setting it glided over the floor and sucked up all the stuff they put down nicely, but at home in the real world, where carpet pile differs, stairs and laminate flooring lives, this Hoover, in my opinion fails spectacularly.
