Eddie.'s review of Fuji Finepix 1400

“This is my second digicam, the first was a Jenoptik...”

★★★★☆

Good Points
Great pictures, good looker, no-brainer to use, very fast USB transfer.

Bad Points
LCD screen not clear in bright sunlight (excellent otherwise)
Standard 4MB card a bit measly.

General Comments
This is my second digicam, the first was a Jenoptik JD12 - OK for occasional use but no comparison to the Fuji!

The camera has a lovely solid feel and is just small enough to fit in a coat pocket without too much bulk.

The LCD screen is crisp and clear indoors but not so good outside in bright light.

The playback options are great - thumbnail views, zoom in/out and scroll, everything you need to help you decide to keep the shot or delete and start again.

Picture quality is very good, 1.3 megapixels is more than adequate for general use.

I stuck a 32mb card in and keep the camera in Fine mode all the time, which gives 50 shots.

AUTO mode is brilliant - point, shoot and ready for the next one in less than 2 seconds. Manual controls are there if you want them - but I haven't found a need yet.

It takes about 1 second per frame to transfer to my PC via USB cable - the drivers and viewer installed & worked perfectly first time.

I've now junked my 35mm compact camera and I'm happy to use the Fuji all the time.

It's dropping in price as newer models come onto the market and if you can get one for under £250 you're getting a bargain.
