Alghero, Villa las Tronas

Villa las Tronas is an excellent setting; out on it's own point overlooking the sea standing in its own private grounds. Although grounds were a little tired; recommend good landscape gardener because with a little work it could be stunning. Apparently, once a palace residence for the royal family. Some of the rooms stunning, with old Italian furniture and coats of arms etc. The restaurant was formal yet busy and charming - great food, classical quartet playing. Had a distinct feeling the locals come here and dress up for a what is considered a very special evening.
