“We have tried other digital cameras in this price...”

Written on: 17/09/2000 by Da Bears Shop. (1 review written)

Good Points
Price, quality of images, 2X Optical Zoom, excellent & easy to use software...did we mention price!

Bad Points
If you can't resist using the LCD screen, then you definitely need rechargeable batteries!

General Comments
We have tried other digital cameras in this price range - Olympus 360, Hewlett-Packard C20, Fuji DX9 - and found that the Kodak DC215 was the best overall. Although we agree with the other reviewers' "bad points", when you look at the PRICE of this camera all those extras requested would just increase the PRICE! We wish it had auto-focus rather than fixed-focus, but a 2X Optical Zoom is a fair trade off. We purchased this camera for taking pictures of teddy bears for our shop and although we have a good 35mm camera, we needed something to take the occasional picture or two...without wasting the rest of the film with the 35mm. This will sound like an "odd" reason for a recommendation, but the other digital cameras we tried were not as good as the Kodak for the pictures of our teddy bears' "fur" - they looked "blurred/matted", while the Kodak was very sharp...even in the Macro setting. We think the color quality is exceptional - we've never have had to adjust that once on any of the pictures we've taken. Prints at 4x6 are excellent as is 800x600 screen resolution on the 'net. If you think of the Kodak DC215 as the "Polaroid" of the 21st Century - then you will be very happy with this digital camera.
