Rush, In Rio Review: To whomever suggested putting on...”

Written on: 31/03/2004 by Incubus67 (1 review written)

Good Points
Nice artwork. Buy the DVD.

Bad Points
Spotty sound washes out in a sea of crowd noise. Not up to Rush standards soundwise. Waste of money when compared to Different Stages.

General Comments
Rush, In Rio Review: To whomever suggested putting on a old pair of headphones and imagine you're right there in the middle of the crowd noise unable to hear the band properly, I say this: Why don't YOU imagine yourself amidst horrible seats with an inability to hear the band. The DVD is to show the visual amazing "oneness" of the crowd that night. We don't need to HEAR them wash the band out on CD too. It just doesn't work and is a major audio disappointment as a CD testament to the great Vapor Trails tour. Different Stages is vastly superior and will be what I choose to crank on the way to Rush's shows this summer.

You don't buy a CD to hear and "feel" the crowd noise. Despite the problems with the Brazilian mobile truck, this should have been a straight board recording. I want to hear how well Rush plays live...not the crowd's ambience. Again, that's what the DVD is for.

Very disappointing. When you have an Alpine car stereo system designed to capture bands like Rush, you don't expect to hear Mush.
