“Say what you will about Christina Aguilera, but this...”

Written on: 08/06/2004 by xstatic iconoclast (1 review written)

Say what you will about Christina Aguilera, but this album is in the end one of the most perfect pop records ever made. Every track on 'Stripped' would be more than capable of standing alone as a single release.

Usually a reviewer is some crazed fan but in this case, nothing could be further from the truth. Before 'Stripped' I didn't even like Christina Aguilera, in fact I thought her time had passed. Her first incarnation as a bubble-gum pop princess got really tired really quickly. Then there was Lady Marmalade which was excellent - but considered by many a one-off. This album was not something many people saw coming.

Listening to this collection you can hear someone really digging in their heels and preparing for the long-haul. With superb tracks like 'Walk Away', 'I'm OK' & 'Fighter' under her belt, this young woman could achieve more than any other pop artist in history.

When you listen to the first track, her Introduction, it truly feels like it heralds the coming of something special.
