General Comments
Metallica, Master of Puppets focused on an anti war cover theme, and a title song that was literally aimed at the addicts of narcotics, this album is a step ahead of many other main stream bands of the time. Master of Puppets is a timeless master peice, of thrash and classical influence fused together to meet in the middle somewhere. Each song is as brilliant as the next, with songs like 'Orion' really explaining that the Metallica of yester year were much more than just a heavy act. They were a well oiled machine that pumped out metal with substance and well thought out ideas in play. There are melodic highs in here that are enough to make you want to learn to play the guitar. The solos on this album are much more thought out and less frantic than the last 2 albums which makes for great listening. The song 'Leper Messiah' showcases this well. Overall you'll find that this album is hard to put down due to its heavy yet thick textured songs. There are multiple things going on in this album all the time. Never a dull moment so definitely run out and buy this if you like hard rock, or even Nu metal. All my friends have it wether they listen to it often or not. Discover where your favourite musicians come from by listening to Master Of Puppets. (..and get your air guitar re-stringed!)
