“This is quite a break from Jackson's previous albums...”

This is quite a break from Jackson's previous albums and a lot of people won't like it for this reason. It certainly doesn't have the same innocence and enthusiasm as the others and does virge on self pity at times, reflecting the singers increasingly troubled private life. However, the sound is incredibly tight and well produced and the lyrics show a new maturity and sophistication. This reveals a new artistic edge from Jackson and many will enjoy the darker feel of some tracks combined with the lighter more melodious tracks. Listen out for some stunning guitar work by Slash on 'Give In To Me'.
