“I've used EasySpace web hosting for several years. ...”

Written on: 01/02/2006 by box (1 review written)

Good Points
Cheap (for new customers if you don't want MySQL)

Bad Points
Appalling customer service...
a) 2 weeks to get a response to a question submitted through their online help desk
b) Haven't responded adequately to all queries
c) Don't make it easy for old customers to migrate to their new (cheaper) packages
d) MySQL database goes down too often (even to the extent that Google indexed the error page!)

General Comments
I've used EasySpace web hosting for several years. It's in general been OK, but there have been some problems. OK, problems do occur, but their lax and unprofessional attitude: when the website went down for several days; when they deleted the site by accident; when they said they'd get back to be on a technical question and didn't.

I had several hosting packages with them. They can be 'renewed' each year, but only to the original package type (which no longer exists to new customers) which still costs more than one of their new packages AND has fewer features! The `upgrade' option gives the new features, but at EXTRA cost! (They obviously rely on the fact that many don't bother or aren't aware).

They 'cannot' move to their cheaper new package with more features (because 'they are on different systems'). The only way to do this is to buy a new package, to cancel the old, and re-upload to a new package.

This is terrible service. Firstly, the old packages should be of comparable price to the new packages with comparable features (old customers are getting ripped off); and secondly, if I want to change to a sensibly priced package, I must move the site myself. I may as well change provider - which I've done. My new provider charges 30 pounds for the same features Easyspace were charging me 158 pounds for. EasySpace haven't noticed or don't care that I've moved my four hosting packages away from them now. It's not my loss.

I think for new customers, they might be OK, but the way they treat old customers, they don't deserve any loyalty.
