So Supernanny has gone all American and the Americans now believe that all English nannies dress like Victorian salvation army matrons!
Just as we once saw the English dysfunctional parents, we now have the delights of knowing American parents are failing their kids too and just as expected, the Americans are doing it bigger and bolder than we could.
We can sit smugly watching these poor wretched failures knowing that we probably did a better job than them.
The programme is funny because its so ridiculous. I mean, who in their right mind would let this stern looking woman dressed in a large black cloak anywhere near our kids?
Its scarey because when this woman gets emotional, which she often does, you see the kids backing out of the room.
At the same time the programme is a little sad. Have we really reached a stage where we need to bring in a total stranger along with an entire television crew to teach us how to be good parents? Sadly I think we do.
