Finding lodging is stressful enough without having to part with money before you even move in anywhere. Most of the flats were gone but advertisers do not remove posts and spareroom does nothing to make your room hunt easy by cleaning these ads. Then there is the general frustration of finding someone online who is actually a normal human being. I suppose it is a bit like online dating, most of the people are on there because they fail at being social offline.

I've had way more luck and spent less time out and about asking people if they have a spare room. I suppose there is something a bit more human about a conversation than there is about a generic email plus you don't have to worry about awkward viewings. I know most of this isn't spareroom's fault, but I can say it is one of the most distasteful "consumption" experiences I have ever had.
