Has anyone else had £2 removed from their bank account after buying fuel in tesco? They take the actual amount owed £20 then an additional £2. Now the £2 doesn't actually go from your account but will show as pending for a few days , not a problem if you've got spare cash but causes a huge problem if your bank won't pay a direct debit payment because of it . I enquired in my bank and was told this is definitely what's happening

Were you using the pay at pump service with your card? If so, it could be because they were checking you had some funds in order to pay first. I've never used pay at pump, nor heard of the service doing this before, nor seen a £2 charge being used. But this way of checking a card really exists and is good for credit is used by a lot of service providers before the real billing amount is drawn. The last one I saw on my card was for Microsoft services, who always use a £1 'fee' which is never drawn completely.
