“Vetsure and a cat called Juno with 6 lives and no tail”

Written on: 27/10/2019 by Tiara75 (1 review written)

Our cat Juno disappeared for a couple of days, and a different vets practice to her usual one phoned having traced us via her microchip. She had been brought in by some kind strangers in a bad state after an unknown accident that destroyed her tail, requiring complete amputation. There was also a chance various nerves (eg to bladder) may be affected. This vets had a hospital with 24 hour care attached, whereas our own didn’t, requiring a long drive. For her own comfort we kept her there. It was a big shock but a relief to know we had her insured with Vetsure were able to give her a chance by having the operation. The vet’s estimate for this and couple of days as in-patient really added up! Fortunately it all went well and she is fully recovered. I filled out the relevant parts of the claim form which was easily done and the vets did the rest and submitted it once post-op checks were completed. In the meantime I contacted Vetsure who as ever were very helpful and sympathetic on the phone and explained how the refund would be calculated. The vets she was taken to were not with Vetsure so the excess was a little bit higher. The only thing they didn’t tell us was that they would contact her regular vets for some clinical information. We hadn’t told them but it was cleared up on the phone. Vetsure kept us informed by email when the claim was received and 6 days later the claim had been assessed and money was in the account a few days after that. I wish all our insurance was as efficient and pleasant to deal with as this!
