Reluctantly dragged along at the ripe old age of 40 to my first panto in years and a community production at that, BUT quite unexpectedly I had a fantastic night out! Wild West the Panto! was true family entertainment. Amateur the performers may have been, but the musicians, actors and dancers all impressed; the script was great fun, an original storyline, witty and with plenty of audience participation and the Dame, Miss TrixieBelle, played by Anthony Fielding-Raby, was a riot! Andy Morris as a lovelorn Hillbilly was hilarious and his sweetheart Dolores was just so sweet, if a little dim! The theatre is a modern studio-type venue, so it has it's challenges for staging a pantomime, but I thought that the simple, but bright set design worked really well. Costumes were super - especially Miss Trixie's - the live band were accomplished musicians and accompanied, rather than over-powered the singers and the youngsters who played chorus parts were delightful. Thank you to ACTion Community Theatre for a great night out!
