“I have just read the 2 reviews that have been posted....”

I have just read the 2 reviews that have been posted. The positive review is clearly written by someone at Revinfotech in response to the very negative review they had got before. I have had a very similar experience with this company. They provided me with a cheap quote for a fixed price project and then demanded more money half way through the project. Even though everything we required had been specified in detail before we even commissioned them to do the work, they would not budge on their demands. It was a case of pay up, or all work stops. This company will offer you cheap prices and then hammer you later on. Be warned!!

I have used this sites services in a web project in the past, the service was professional. As I don't completely understand SEO, what was done was explained to me in detail which was useful for my own knowledge. A few months ago we contacted this website for advice on SEO for a venture a family member was undertaking. The service received was professional and useful, in the end we didn't commission any work but took on board the advice and may do next time.

“Revinfotech- Will cost you deary on oDesk”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 09/08/2013

oDesk is a platform that connects businesses in the west with independent contractors and outsourced service providers. Once such operator on the oDesk platform is a company called Revinfotech. We advertised a project in December 2012 for the development of a new platform for our company. We were looking for the project to be completed before April 2013. Revinfotech quoted us $4,222 and after having a few discussions with them, they convinced us that they were competent and professional and would deliver. We therefore accepted their offer and started the contract. One thing we did however make clear was that we required a proper functional specification with associated wire frames. We paid 10% upfront and were due to pay an additional 15% on delivery of the detailed functional spec. We also had a payment schedule that had milestones, measures and associated payments. The last payment of the final 20% was due to be paid after all bug fixes had been completed. 2 months later, Revinfotech had still not delivered the specs and were asking for more money. We explained that we needed a spec as there was likely going to be a lot of mistakes and misunderstandings later without one. Revinfotech said that we should not worry- they would make sure all of our requirements were delivered. The began putting together some components of the system to make it look like work was being done. Unfortunately, this was all part of an elaborate scam to lull us into a false sense of security. As they showed us more items, they asked for more money, and stupidly we paid- even though the payments they were demanding were not in line with the payment schedule. Revinfotech spurned the excuse that because they were working on so many things at the same time, the payment schedule was no longer relevant. When we had paid 70% we began to realise that the system they had developed did not have the functionality required, and even what had been developed was actually laden with bugs. We complained, and the response we were given by by the business development manager was that her developers had already spent too much time on the project and would not be doing anything more unless we switched the contract to an hourly contract and paid them on a time basis. This is when we realised what they were doing. We had no code and had paid 70% of the contract value. The Managing Director then told us that if we paid $600 they would transfer the code they had done so far. Whilst this was a gamble (she could have been lying) we felt like we had no choice. We paid the money and they transferred the code they had written. Unfortunately for us, the code they had delivered was pathetic and laden with bugs. The bigger problem was that Revinfotech then wanted more money to fix the bugs- but they wanted payment upfront. Having been stung so many times by them, we decided to call it a day. We have paid a total of $3,400 to Revinfotech in India and we have nothing to show for it. Please therefore beware of Revinfotech. These people will be very sweet and make lots of grand promises to get you to do business with them, and then when the moment is right- they will drop the bombshell on you and tell you they will stop work unless you pay more money than you had previously agreed. Be very careful when using oDesk in general. Never pay for anything unless you physically have something to show for it, and always make sure that things are stacked in your favour. We are a UK based company and you can ask us for more information about them by using the contact us form at firovia.com.

I have experienced similar problems with oDesk.

The main issue is that oDesk say that you should not pay a contractor on a fixed price contract until your work is completed and delivered. The reality is that no contractor will work for you with an up front payment, and no contractor will hand over work until they get paid. The massive gamble is that you could pay and not get anything in return.

So of course, you go to oDesk and complain. The response from oDesk is that you should not have paid until the work was handed over. And then they wash their hands of you.

Revinfotech has a reputation for duping their clients out of thousands of dollars. Be very careful of this company and oDesk in general. Revinfotech will sweet talk you into parting with your money and then when you have paid them enough money, they will tell you they are over budget and cannot do anymore work without increasing the price and getting paid more. The problem is, they probably have not done any work all the time you have been paying them.

Revinfotech will also log incorrect hours if you go for an hourly contract. Again, if you complain to oDesk, the response will be that oDesk guarantees hours and not the quality of work.

I used oDesk successfully for 3 years. There are many good contractors on oDesk and I got a lot of work done over the years at a highly reduced rate compared to what I have would have paid here in the USA. Unfortunately, I then had a very similar situation to the one the poster of this review talks about. A freelancer that exploits the flaws on oDesk. I lost $5,000 and when I contacted oDesk, they just were not interested. The best thing to do is ask your credit card provider to chargeback oDesk. oDesk will probably close your account, but you should get your money back.

I have heard of Revinfotech in India. I also know that many of the managers at Revinfotech try and get work in their own names on oDesk and other platforms to avoid the stigma attached to their company. I would advise people to check out LinkedIn so that you can see all the employees at Revinfotech and avoid them.
